Please help me decorate my bathroom! (Thank you!)
Comments (9)That looks like a room I would have. I'd go with hershey bar chocolate brown and werther's butterscotch gold and maybe some off white. Maybe stripe or figured towels? I didn't see a shower. Maybe a mirror on that long wall? There are lots of oval stenciled ones around. I know. I've been looking at mirrors. I like yours a lot. Tell me about it. Maybe another one with a similar frame hung the long way? It looks like your medicine cabinet is about half way of the long wall? Then build your art work around the mirror? It might add some depth, too. I drag home 3 or 4 times as many things as I think I will use, hold them up and return the ones that don't cut it. I'll be doing that real soon. I want to have my paper up first. Yup. Papering. There's something about paper that speaks to me....See MorePlease Please help me decorate my great room...need to order furn
Comments (21)You asked: I hate it. The bottom one looks like someone took a traditional, wicker sofa and wrapped it in leather. Those very formal, old fashioned arms, and bun feet, don't go with the eclectic, casual style of the upholstery. The shape of the red sofas is much more appropriate, but it would be better in all leather. Leather is great with kids so long as they don't have sharp things in their pockets and can be trusted not to poke pencils into it. It cleans up with water and saddle soap. But it does stick to bare skin, and can get hot. It's nature's vinyl. Which is why they combine it with fabric. Bad move. Either be fabric or be leather. The weight and texture are too different and they rarely come out looking great, especially after some living happens. The red bench is cool! Less imposing than a sofa table (console), but with a lot of the same function. And it's folky and funky. My Aunt had the two sofas flanking the fireplace in her living room. It's a great conversation grouping, but not so much for TV watching. For that, especially for the kids who probably look at the screen more, you want a straight on view. You can do a big square, though. An L of couch and settee or second couch or loveseat, and a couple of small easy chairs that are easy to get around on the opposite side. You have your red chairs. I'm not sure if they're too big to allow people to walk by easily if you close up the square, but even so, you can always pull them over for company, and keep them by the piano for family time with running kids. Re Larry, have your other family members sit tested him? I totally agree about the shape. It's very tired. But that LOVE thing is important. Your family room couch should feel Ahhh to sit on. I'm sure it'll still be there though. Maybe you can find a similarly comfy couch in a more classic shape that will give you more breadth of possibilities. Comfort comes first, but it can be done with a little more style than poor Larry. ;-)...See MorePlease help me decorate my small dining space!
Comments (16)unfortunately, we do not have a room that is near the dining area that could be used. We pretty much use this "breakfast nook" as our sole dining space. We have considered a banquette, but our concern was that it would take up more space than what is available. However, the dining set that I shared, in the description, the dimensions state that it is 48" x 36", which makes it narrower and rectangle, which is why we chose it for that space. I think, in that picture, it just looks square, but it is actually rectangle! It has a leaf built into it; here is a picture of it with the leaf added to it, bringing the length to 66" we were planning on putting the table against the wall like the current one is set up and putting the chairs on either end and along the side to leave adequate space when it is just the three of us (we are a small family) As for the china hutch, thank you klfische, I agree, that something shorter with artwork would be better suited to the space, which is why I wanted to invest in a buffet or server instead. I was actually considering the purchase of a base cabinet and adding decorative trim and knobs to match it to the new dining table, but my husband said we should reconfigure the current cabinet to be more suitable. I actually have a plan for the artwork to go over the top... Two framed New Orleans Jazz Fest Posters that create a pair that were created by artist Terrance Osborne. I actually created this plan to kinda see how the table would fit in relation to the space available. I actually used the measurements of the cabinets in my kitchen, etc. to figure out the wall openings, etc to get a more accurate idea of the space available! (the plan software only had a 6 chair table example available, we would actually move the table closer to the wall for the majority of the time. :) So no rug under the table or anything? I was wondering if a rug may brighten up the space, but maybe we will just do the table and repurpose the hutch and see where it goes? I will be back with pictures when all is done! ANy other suggestions are appreciated!!! :)...See MoreHelp me decorate my living room please!
Comments (12)You are in luck, because the one word that defines both boho and farmhouse is relaxed! These two styles will allow you to embrace the unique qualities of your home. Let inspiration come in the way of a piece of fabric, or a favorite accessory. Have a plan before you buy anything, to give your home unity and cohesiveness. Measure twice, buy once! You have a blank slate with your neutral base pieces, so you can pretty much go with any color or colors. Get art from local artists, or art.com. As you can see from the two links below, you have a lot of options with the boho and farmhouse styles. https://www.houzz.com/photos/query/farmhouse-living-room/nqrwns https://www.houzz.com/photos/query/boho-living-room/nqrwns...See MorePaul F.
