Would this fabric coordinate with my rug?
Comments (23)Okay, Miss Goddess...I think Roman shades will work just fine for those windows, and you handle the air conditioner by not lowering the shade beyond the top of it. If you keep the shade simple, with just a litle bit of drape between the sides (no pleats or frou frou), it will look better above the ac, I think. Besides, the pattern has so much drama that you don't really need hoop-la, don't you think? First step...measure the inside dimensions of your window frames, top to bottom and side to side, and write them down. Don't assume they are the same, although they probably are. (Measure twice, cut once, ya know!) Then measure both the diagonals of each window...upper left to lower right, and upper right to lower left...and compare them. If they are the same, your frame is square. Ask your husband the carpenter about this if it isn't a familiar idea...he knows what it means! Then get the measurements of the width of your fabric, and the pattern repeat. The fabric store can tell you that. You need the repeat so that you can buy enough material to make the pattern on the two shades match. Send me those measurements, and we'll go to the next step. If anything isn't clear, let me know....See Morecoordinating finishes on exterior fixtures...what would you do?
Comments (9)Flyleft, No, nothing helps w/ the stink! Ah, the mystery behind my handle...Actually, in my household, "Stinky" is a term of endearment! When the cat is being particularly full of her self she's "stinky." When my husband does something annoying, the nice way of telling him so is to say, "That was stinky behavior!" Don't know how it caught on, but in good times & bad, we're all just stinky! There you have it...mystery revealed. Ironically, no one on the planet could be more into things smelling nice than I am! Potpurri for the house, home fragrance spray for the house, cleaners selected for their fragrance as well as cleaning abilities. Love fragrant bath gels, body sprays, scented candles...minty toothpaste, mouthwash & always have Listerine breath strips w/me! Have a vase full of eucalyptus in downstairs powder room so it always smells fresh. I'm a clean freak & part of my motivation is to keep things smelling nice. SO, in the conventional sense, am probably one of the best smelling people around...but if you ask my husband (& cat)...they'll tell you.. I'm very, very stinky!...See MoreWhat would you use for a window treatment fabric?
Comments (3)Maybe a plaid something like this: sparrow orchard This might work to bring out the warmer golden/yellow tones if you wanted to do that: petit fleur de lys mustard A tiny floral print (provencal) would be another fabric to consider. And the suggestion from kmcg85 about starting with the coordinating things on the website is certainly a good idea....See Morewhat kind of light/chandelier would coordinate with this antique one?
Comments (3)Oh, fun! Beautiful home! What year? There are so many directions you could go, as I’m sure you’ve already found. So many great styles of Victorian lights out there, and staying pure to the period .... but you could also go further ahead in time and do a later era — just as rebellious tired-of-ornateness people did in their Victorians back in the ‘20-‘40s. :D I wouldn’t worry too much about “matching”, unless you really want to stay strictly in a certain timeframe. My own preference would be to do something with more than one bulb, as you need more light there, and it would play off your single light. Here are just a few, I did keep them to Victorian style. I could find lights all day. :) This is from Lamps Plus: I went Art Deco with this one, totally appropriate: https://www.vintagehardware.com/proddetail.php?prod=28831&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4sjyBRC5ARIsAEHsELFxTLflDTEuEkPdsVa8UJJTzR7d2shrTxnN8EQdCkbLhPwhtFqLi30aAkkPEALw_wcB The site above has awesome lights: https://www.vintagehardware.com/proddetail.php?prod=5905-8L-DK This is from Bellacor: ~~~~~ ~~~~~ While looking, I came across one of the most beautiful light fixtures I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if it’s even for sale still, but I just wanted to share with someone who clearly appreciates this style. I just love this. Isn’t it stunning? https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/all-original-victorian-chandelier-ca-1834137266 Forgive me, just wanted to play. :)...See More- 20 days agolast modified: 20 days ago
