Dear Lauriedeee (nice name, by the way) Thanks for that idea. Good to know that Walmart might be an affordable option (although we are a little concerned my daughter my have some allergies - so I'm not positive about hte down pillow top pad for her - but I think I like the idea for me. I used to have allergies and had to avoid down - but have been getting allergy shots for two years that have been so effective that my allergist gave me the green light for down bedding). Anyone have low profile mattress recommendations? or feedback about Ikea or Room and Board mattresses? Thank you. Lynn.

Thought I'd post an update in case anyone searches for a thread in the future. DD1 ran across PureCare at a store in a semi-nearby town, but they didn't have the sizes she needed. The fabric is nice and thick. They have several depths, so they will work with her low profile box and thick mattress. She has a feather bed, so she is using the OmniGuard mattress protector for the king (instead of mattress pad) and PureCare box spring protector. Both are full encasement. One more voice in favor of the Baker. I have a 37 year old Baker sofa in need of reupholstering. Mt sofa was used very heavily since I took from my parents' house. I have four children. It could well be that on top of your children getting older, better sofas will handle the wear and tear much better. As for the velvet, sunlight bleaches wood. I had a mahogany Henredon drum table next to a window and a 3" roundish portion abutting the window sill became extremely discolored in the direct sunlight. I don't know if indirect light would be so harsh. Are the protectors you can get for furniture fabric like stain guard, for sunlight? A peacock blue sofa sounds dreamy.

The 0.87” is the depth of the diffuser and how much it protrudes. They are mounted on the underside of the front cabinet lip. The size didn't influence the decision on where to place, the installation was delayed due to the issue with the Armacost strips and finally happened in the middle of some other renovation chaos so honestly, the only thing that influenced the decision is the electrician lol. He just put them in where he usually does I guess and it wasn't until a few days later when things settled down that I thought about placement. It was a fleeting thought anyway because they light up the entire area(s) very well so if they aren't in the "preferred" spot that others would suggest, I have no idea and it doesn't bother me since they work perfectly well right where they are and do exactly what we need them to do. I'm happy to share my experience - there are so many things to think about and consider, and I received help from others and this forum so I'm happy to try and give a little back when I can. ETA: I just looked up the exchange with Inspired LED and they indicated that when using the the strips, they need to be installed facing the backsplash to allow the LEDs to wash and blend together and create a more even beam of light. With the diffusers, that isn't necessary since the panels give that even beam of light, so they should be installed facing directly down toward the countertop.
