Ideabook 911: Help Me Finish My Foyer
Houzz Member Laurahehe posted this plea to the Buzz Board:
Help for my Hallway! I just finished it, I think it is pretty good but needs a bit of tweaking to be finished. Any advice on what I should do? Let's take a look!

Laura says: "The view of the front door is the part I am struggling with. It looks bare but the area is too small to put anything beside it."
Houzz Member dew93028 chimed in with some good advice:
"Perhaps a small table on the right side wall next to the door with some type of accent piece, flowers, or small vase? You may also consider changing the ceiling light fixture as it seems the room is overpowering it. You have a beautiful, large front entrance. A larger, more majestic light fixture may bring out the beauty even more. Absolutely gorgeous home I must say. Great job. I'm jealous."

Here are a few more views of Laura's hallway area. I think she should definitely play off the colors of her runner when choosing a rug in front of the front door.l
I love the way you've lined the artwork in matching frames along the hallway Laura!
As soon as I saw you asking about a fabulous light fixture, this one came to mind.
You could also go modern with a Nelson Pendant Light. This hallway is similar in size to yours - note the eye-catching small area rug.

"I agree with changing out the light fixture. You need to add something with more interest. I would also change the rug to something more exciting. You can go to 'Home decoraters' online catalog and order a zebra print or something that will be fun, yet hide the dirt.
Good Luck!"
I'd also add that Jonathan Adler makes a darling zebra rug.

Here is another example of an eye-catching rug that won't show that front door dirt!
This small but intricate mirror used by Turquoise L.A. is a great accent for a hallway.
Obviously, this urn is too large for your hallway, but a smaller sculpture or cute umbrella stand could look good to the right of the door.
Or how about a leopard? No, not so much? ;)
What follows are a few more fantastic hall lights. This is the Random Light.
This has a more exotic Moroccan feel.
A bit more traditional, and nice in a row like this.
A classic lantern would look great with your traditional style.
This fixture is a bit of a twist on the classic lantern.
This Fortuny fixture brings in elegant Venetian style.
Moravian stars are perhaps an acquired taste, but I love them. But enough from me, everyone please chime in and help Laura with suggestions and images you think would help her put that finishing touch on her hallway.
