what size curtains

I had these 84inch length sheer curtains and was looking for curtains to put over them. I bought the double hanging rods and tie back hooks but I put this skinny sofa table behind our couch and now I’m not sure if the 84 inch curtains looks right having the table up against it. I was thinking of buying shorter curtains that stop at the bottom of the window. I’m not sure what would look the best.

If you want to make your space look incredible, take your curtains from floor to ceiling and let them fall on the sides of your window. It makes a HUGE difference!

If you’re using those curtains, you need at least twice the width of the window. Right now it’s skimpy.

I personally don't use valances unless that's the only treatment. I don't like them paired with panels. How tall are the curtains? If they match a shower curtain (e.g. part of a commercial set), I'm guessing they're standard 84" long? If so, I would hang them at a height where the bottom of the curtain was about 1/2" above the floor. Given the measurements you've provided, that would be about 5" above the top of the window. Please for the love of all that is good in the world... ...hang them high enough that the bottom of the tab is still above the top of the window (e.g. you can only see wall between the tabs, not window, trim, or otherwise).

Where did you get those curtains? Very pretty. I agree about getting a thicker rod. I just wanted to mention be careful with wood rods. I was going to use a barley twisted wood rod for my LR but after seeing they were all slightly bowed I decided to use a metal, adjustable rod. With the crown moulding it will be really noticeable. I'm sure there's reputable companies where you can buy rods that are straight but I wasn't having any luck.

What type of rod is it--iron, wood? How are you hanging the curtains--on a rod pocket, rings, clips? What type of heading is on the panels? What style of room is it? For a window that wide, you will need several supports. Please post some photos.

Unless you plan (or don't mind) covering much of the side windows, curtains won't work. There's just not enough wall space. Shades or blinds would be a better choice. Romans, wood blinds or woven woods would work.

Being honest here, I do not like those sheers with the big rings hung as is. A rod is supposed to go through the rings.

Sofa table is a good idea under a window, but everything is squished against the window. Pull the console and the sofa out at least 6". Use it to compliment the sofa and look good from the curb.

I just threw those up using magic tape for privacy till I bought double curtain rods.

K.Ellis I love the idea on the link sent me putting up lot wider curtain rods. I can hang the shears over the windows and buy thicker curtains and hang them on each side of the sheers and window. Thank you

I just used magic tape to stick the sheer curtains in the picture just for privacy till I bought curtain rods.

I’m going to use the idea from the link and buy wider rods and hang the sheer curtains over the window and another set of curtains on each side of the window.
