Taj Mahal Quartzite - Opinions on our Counter Top Selection?
Comments (5)Wow the black and soft white w the Taj is going to look amaaaazinggg!! I use black as accents in the kitchen as my center island is a deep Tuscany green and cabs are White Duck. I racked my brains for months looking for backsplash and then I remembered in one of my bathrooms I used this oyster color very elongated subway tile with a soft wave. Went out to my storage to get a few pieces and laid it on there and it was perfect. It was this very soft and neutral greige color. If he’ll go back through my old post you should see pictures of my cabinets Taj Mahal and backsplash as I just cannot remember at this time. after the fact I wish I would’ve brought the Taj all the way up the wall but I’m glad now how it all turned out. So exciting for you in this phase-Good luck!...See MoreWhat color should I use on my kitchen walls with Taj Mahal counters?
Comments (1)I have these countertops and it depends on your color balance. every room should have light, medium, and dark tones. now dark doesnt need to mean black, but the darkesst tone in the room. for yu, it might be your floor or that maybe the lightest as we don't have sample pictures. If your floors are light, I'd recommend darker hardware and accent pieces. everything then would be very light and i would use a midtone (a color between your lightest and darkest piece) that has a bit of yellow or rust to it (though the countertop can be beige, gray, and white with a rust veining, it can also be green. So I recommend picking your exact slab of quartzite, because if you don't, you won't know which you will get. Anyways, my style isnt everyones, but this can give you an idea. The stone on the right has every color in the cabinets, back splash, appliances, and the countertop. So one of these colors, even in a lighter or darker tone, should work. If you can get samples of each piece and create a board for the room, this may also help you select the right color for you and your home....See MoreMarble Tile to go with Taj Mahal Counters?
Comments (14)turn your lights downward. never understood why people wanted vanity lights that light up the ceiling! Personally, I'd get new lights and new mirrors. the current wood frame mirrors does not work w/the warmer wood cabinets. You say you don't want to paint the bathroom again but you want marble?? like carrara marble? absolutely not. no way it will work w/any of those colors, or the taj. the current tile you ahve is perfectly fine. I do have to agree w/Jan, the bathroom color is a little like vomit. I'm sorry, not trying to be rude, but it's not a good shade for looking into the mirror, applying makeup, etc. and personally, I don't think it compliments beautiful taj. you need a soft white. would be SOOOO much better. heck, do the same white that's on the trim, and paint the trim a darker tone that's in the taj. Or, since you have blue artwork, look at something like this. I gave you a simple black frame mirror and glass vanity lights. (personally I like gold w/taj) the other combo I really like is this one. I'd paint the water closet the black or wrought iron, bright white trim and a roman shade, and the pure white elsewhere. or maybe white w/the wrought iron trim work. bring in a gold/black light and gold mirror. hang some green plants near the window. green, black/white and wood look good together. Or, do this in the water closet. white wainscot, upper black, greenery, new window treatment see the window? this is a darker blue if you'd rather do this color. the white wainscot keeps it from looking too dark. paint the ceiling the dark color too since your ceilings are tall in there. very similar to your set up. Taj w/white cabinets and a white tile, mirrors, ORB harware, lights. (sconces are better for face lighting than overhead) Taj w/Calacatta Marble. This just isn't going to work w/your wood cabinets. I'd also lose those mini blinds in the WC. do you have to have them?...See MoreNeed help finding flooring to go with Taj Mahal counters in kitchen
Comments (14)Thank you to all who responded - this is my first time posting anything, so apologize for my deficiencies here ;). I just uploaded a few photos but the lighting is not great as it is early morning and no natural light is in the room. But my taj mahal is more brown than gray, more warm than cool. In the one photo I included a tile I am considering - it is the lightest one. I am trying to pick up the light parts of my taj but having trouble finding tile that is not too white, gray or yellow. I have considered brick and I like the sample in the photo I included but not sure if brick is too busy and if this brick is too gray. And lastly, the tiled area runs against my living and dining that has wood that I am not ready to replace, thus ruling out wood. Question, if I did a drastically different wood-look tile and ran in opposite direction, could I get away with this against the other wood? Like white-washed wide plank running opposite direction to the floor as pictured here. Your help is so appreciated. I have been looking for new flooring for over 2 years, which is maddening!...See MoreKathy
