Wished you’d provided photos as we cannot know what the kitchen looks like without them. But as a general rule, Taj Mahal counters and a floor of ”tile that is stony or traverine-y” would not look good together no matter what the rest of your kitchen looks like.

People on this forum have not memorized every tile on the market. So your reference to ”Arizona Tile Unica Moon” would be more useful if you would please provide a photo of it.

If I had to do tile with Taj I would probably lean toward something dead simple like a classic warm grey slate (I personally would not want veins on the floor bc of the counters)

Taj can lean warm or cool, or a mix of both. Without seeing your slab, the best suggestion would be to look at something no veining, and without a lot of movement, right in the middle of warm and cool. I like that Dignitary tile line. I'd also check the white color Luminary White.

Thank you to all who responded - this is my first time posting anything, so apologize for my deficiencies here ;). I just uploaded a few photos but the lighting is not great as it is early morning and no natural light is in the room. But my taj mahal is more brown than gray, more warm than cool. In the one photo I included a tile I am considering - it is the lightest one. I am trying to pick up the light parts of my taj but having trouble finding tile that is not too white, gray or yellow. I have considered brick and I like the sample in the photo I included but not sure if brick is too busy and if this brick is too gray. And lastly, the tiled area runs against my living and dining that has wood that I am not ready to replace, thus ruling out wood. Question, if I did a drastically different wood-look tile and ran in opposite direction, could I get away with this against the other wood? Like white-washed wide plank running opposite direction to the floor as pictured here. Your help is so appreciated. I have been looking for new flooring for over 2 years, which is maddening!

Honestly, your tile is perfectly fine with your kitchen. You just need to clean the grout, and use a grout colorant that is the background color of the tile. That will cost you less than $100.

I don't think that would look good. I'd replace all the flooring with light European Oak engineered wide plank to update everything.

Thank you for the additional comments. Unfortunately I cannot keep the existing floor. This whole kitchen remodel started because a couple years ago my tiles started popping up and cracking. I believe they are the original tile and the house is 25ish years old and in the humid deep south. The original homeowner did not leave spare tiles, or at least not as many as I need. @User I love how you were able to re-do the pic to show how the tile looks with a different grout, though, because I never liked that grout. But old counters were black, so it seemed to be less obvious then. Do you think a similar tile but in large format would work? I really think 12x24 is too small because there is a lot more floor than what I have shown here and it would be a lot of lines. But I worry 24x48 is too sterile looking. 12x24 is fine, or 24x24. If you have to start over brand new, then something a bit less gold for the floors will work, but they cannot be a cold tone. If your tiles are popping, I think you'll want to investigate and remedy that. Check your dehumidifier or add one to your hvac system. Identify and evaluate your subfloor to meet the movement requirements of large format tile. A decoupling membrane might be considered in your install. No expert here but given the wood grain and the countertop swirls, I'd want a simple dark (gray or black) floor to not only contrast with the other kitchen materials but look acceptable butted up against the adjacent wood floor e.g.,

I used Demure Fiele Taupe (by Genrose) in 12x24 with my Taj. It is perfect. I wanted porcelain tile throughout the kitchen and foyer so that I could heat my floors and avoid tracking in dirt on wood.

This is the tile. I posted my kitchen elsewhere where you might be able to get a better shot of the tone of my Taj. A lot of taupe which is why the floor worked so well.
