Help I made a mistake on a Wood Floor Cleaner I used
Comments (8)Boxers, thank you so much! You and two friends helped me today and now I have calmed down. One friend is visiting his daughter in Alaska so could not come by but he sent me a link on cleaning residue off hardwood floors and thought maybe it was residue from the product. Thanks goodness I think my friend was right since it looks like it is coming up. First I used the Bona Hardwood Floor cleaning to scrub over and over again with microfiber pads and the areas I was buffing dry seemed to look better. Then I thought I would go to Wal-Mart to buy the Windex with no Ammonia that was mentioned in the article to see if it worked better and it did. I will never use the Bona Wood Refresher product again! But I do like their Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner product that leaves no residue. I have now spent the last few hours scrubbing the floor with so many microfiber pads and Windex with no Ammonia and whatever it was is coming off. I even washed a load of them and dried them as well as cut up a microfiber ivory blanket to get more pieces to dry with after I scrub with the Windex. I thought I had stripped my floors since they looked so bad. I have to go back and do the floors one more time on my hands and knees after this email but I am posting a reply as I eat dinner. My other friend came by who was local to help me for a little bit and then left but he was right I have to do a small spot and keep rubbing with the Windex and then dry the area with the dry microfiber mop. It is taking so long but I am determined to have my floors look good again so I can focus on my work tomorrow. If I can't get it all off (the floor looks 70% better after hours of cleaning now and my back is hurting), I will call the Bona company tomorrow. I do appreciate your email so much further calming me down. Tonight I am going to get a good night's sleep so I can work tomorrow with hopefully a floor that is pretty again with definitely no more dust on it and not having these blotches all over it looking so ruined....See MoreShould I embrace or correct this mistake?
Comments (22)In that plan, there is 5 feet between the range and peninsula. I'm using the IKEA planner so not much makes sense. :D Right now we have almost 6 feet and I don't find that too far. The final location of the peninsula will be based on what we do with the door and how much room we need for the table. Replacing the 6 foot windows with a slider (south of the table) would make sense for traffic flow when we have big parties but that is currently only once or twice a year. If we just put a window in the kitchen, we'd also add some kind of ledge outside and use it as a pass through. We have found 5 foot sliders but they are no more roomy for the person trying to get through than a 30" hinged door, and much more expensive. Nuccia, in addition to the thrash pullout at the end of the peninsula (which we're sort of used to), we'll have something under the cleanup sink, probably attached to the door and similar to what you linked to. The peninsula is going to be the main prep space and we'll have 30"+ between the sink and fridge so I don't think the area next to the range is critical for that. It would be rare that the door will interfere with indoor cooking but it could happen on occasion. I'll have to balance the hassle factor of walking around vs. a swing door....See MoreWhat is the deal with STEAM OVENS? Do I need it in my kitchen remodel?
Comments (76)Some combination steam ovens (such as the Miele models) even have rudimentary support for "sous vide" cooking. They are not quite as precise with their temperature settings as a genuine water bath, but with a little trial-n-error, you can often get very comparable results. A steam-assist oven would typically not be able to do this. I have only been able to use my Miele CSO for a few days now, as the kitchen remodel is not 100% finished and we haven't quite moved back in. Back what little I have done so far does blow me away. It is so much more versatile than my old traditional oven. And yes, I am so glad I sprung for the plumbed model; makes it such a breeze to use steam whenever it helps a given recipe....See MoreI made a big mistake..help please
Comments (18)You probably already figured out a solution, but I wanted to share what we have done in a couple condos when there was tight space. Rather than actually stacking the washer and dryer with the official stacking kit, we built a sturdy plywood shelf above the washer and just set the dryer on it. We left enough space under the shelf to install a little wire container store drawer for plastic containers of powder and the scoops. It does raise the dryer higher which isn't great for everybody. We liked it because it made the prospect of working on the washer much easier. We could slide the little drawer off the glides and reach in there with a dolly under the washer or yank it if someone had long arms from the top of the machine. We didn't have to drag the whole stack out. Appliance repairman didn't have to basically reinstall the dryer after fixing the washer. If they wanted better access to plumbing and plugs back there, it was still easier to pull the dryer down on its own first. I am not sure this installation method will work with the high cabinet being so close on the side, but I post it in case it helps. That is a really tight spot, so I understand why you were thinking wheels were a good idea. Unfortunately, to grip the machines and move them around repairman probably want to be able to get their arms around the thing so I am not sure how attached you are to that cabinet set-up. These machines could really use some inches on either side for beefy arms. Once the wheels are gone, how can the strap of an appliance dolly get around there? Might be able to fake it better if the dryer was at least not attached to the washer and was boosted up on the shelf. I'm hoping you are a family of tall people :) Good luck!...See Moredani_m08
