Well, DH is picking up drywall today, I am just avoiding cleaning up all the dust. We aren't sure what to do with the brick chimney there in the corner. While DH hangs up the drywall, I will start painting in the kitchen. My three colors I would like to work around are going to be white, cream and black. White, since that is what all the trim is, cream for walls, then the black is from my furniture and appliances. We removed all the trim in the DR, so I will also paint that white while it is off, then just touch up after it is put back on. Walls in DR cream, walls in LR will be a bit brighter than cream, but not ultra white, since it is the darkest room. Kitchen will have cream on the walls and white trim as well. I know for sure I am using Dutch Boy ultra white for trim since previous home owner left a can of it labeled "trim". (I love it when they do that) I am picking up samples of creams when we go to the lumber yard for drywall this afternoon. That is my plan so far and I am hoping I won't have to come up with a plan C, lol.

I'm not sure about the color choice. And that doesn't mean I don't like it, I just struggle with picking my own colors that I can't help you with this. If you think it will look good, you should give it a try. You can buy a can of sample paint and try it out on a poster board that you can move around the room. A lot of people love the Wyeth Blue and Palladian Blue from BM. They seem like really nice colors. I totally agree with staining the island dark. You will love that. PLUS, if it looks incredible, you never know what Mr. Lottie might do next! Gel stain for all!!! We call this "Baby Steps". You may secretly have a plan but you give him only what he needs to know. If you like the look, you can secretly manipulate the situation so that Mr. Lottie thinks it was his idea to continue on and do the whole kitchen. Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone! Ordered the rug!! Excited to get it - it'll be wonderful to have all that orange on the other side; that alone will do a lot to unite the two sides, I'm sure! Also looking at wallpapers for the back of the shelves... will keep you all posted on that and hope to get your help to rearrange the shelves, as well. After that, will change the lamp that's over by the chairs. I'm thinking once the shelves are accented with the blue background, it'll be nice to have a blue lamp in the same tone over by the chairs to further unite the two sides. :) I'll keep you all posted, thank you for your help and feedback! <333

freedomplace1: The home in which you grew up sounds absolutely fabulous! Between its age (nothing like old homes!), and all of that wonderful space... ah, what I wouldn't give for all those rooms right now... haha! I think you may be right - I don't know what we'd keep in a trunk in this room, really - probably some blankets and things like that, certainly nothing the guests would find necessary, as those items would be put on top of the dresser, in plain view for them to use. I was trying to remember the other day, the first time I saw a trunk used as a coffee table. Trunks have, of course, been around for centuries... but I don't remember them used as living room pieces when I was growing up, so even that is a trend, isn't it? Unless I just haven't spent much time around stylish people! l pinkmountain: I know just the tables you mean, and those really do work quite well in small spaces. Your home sounds fabulous - between the handmade, and the inherited items. I tend to like those types of things best. And of course we would end up owning the heaviest pieces when we move around a lot, wouldn't we?! Our huge, heavy, Jacobean inherited dining set has traveled the country with us... and that Horton's piece was with us in two places before we ended up in our current home. Of course now that we aren't going anywhere for a while, it's in storage... ha, the irony! everdebz: Yes, I agree - visually, transitional may work best, and I think the reason that I was looking for a visually lighter piece, is because the navy tones in the room do make it appear heavier. ital mover: That one is fun, I like the round shape and the fact that it has wheels! The only bummer would be the fact that we wouldn't be able to use it as an ottoman. I know, I know, so much to demand of such a tiny space! I did order the throw, however, it seems perfectly color-matched to the room - will post an update when that comes. Thank you! :)
