What’s in / under that raised edge along the wall? I think that to decide a treatment for it would first be helpful to know the reason / purpose of it. Is that 6 individual mirrors hung at the landing? They really seem to serve a purpose - avoiding collisions!

Loose the mirrors that do not reflect anything worthwhile. Also the runner on top of the carpet doesn't look decorative. Perhaps you need it for pets....

Are there children in the house? Paint the walls something bright and fun. Otherwise *I* like blush, seafoam, pale green. The ledge can be used to display your collections--Vase, ceramics, Giraffes whatever.

Bookshelves for books, games, etc

I think if you could have carpeting closer to the color of the wall, it would blend in with that raised area better and diminish its impact. I'd replace the mirror with art so there is something to distract your eyes and have something pleasant to focus on.

Are those both outside walls? That's the foundation wall sticking out. The wall can be brought out to match or maybe some shelves?

I would leave it all alone. I agree its part of the foundation. Had similar in a house one time. Its a great ledge to put decorative things on. I would make sure all are unbreakable though, just in case someone bumps one. The mirrors do seem to serve a purpose, so I guess, I would leave them, even though, I would rather have a large painting there. I would paint it a pretty color, not too neutral. Something a little fun.

I would be checking what is under the carpet..perhaps wood that can be re-finished or painted…then replace the carpet with a flat pile runner ..which would also be safer than the shag
