Help me pull my room together...please
Comments (3)I am probably the last person to get this right for you. But here goes. I do think a celery green on the walls would be wonderful because I am partial to greens. The rug couch and cubes are all good together. I would pull the couch up over the edge of the rug to ground the couch or pull the rug back to the couch which ever fits the space best. The front of the couch needs to be on the rug. It looks like too much space between the couch and cubes. Might just be an illusion so if they really are that far away to be used as ottomans move them closer to the couch. The red pillow is not the right red for your room. Maybe go more on a burgundy or green. What glares at me is the dark hole of the TV set up. Can you set the TV on a small wood dresser or something other then what it is on? Or hang it on the wall? Spread out the components some and make a better living space for the VCR or DVD , game, or whatever it is. And move the stereo. If that is impossible can you cover the base of the stand with something cloth? Now crazy me. If you do not need the long curtains to cover the windows for privacy and warmth. I might move the whole rod off to one side and let curtains just hang on one side. .In your dinning room area do it one on left side of window one on right. But then I am a virgo and need to see balance. Some one else will have a better idea. I can not help you at all with art. I have very little and what I have certainly will not be your style. This is coming from a thrift store shopper is why. So now I am done.Great space to work with.Love the rug and cubes. I am sure some one else will have much better ideas. Loving those darling little tables in the corners too. Chris...See MorePlease help pull the look together: finalize sconces/chandelier
Comments (2)Petra: thank you so very much. Really appreciate those reassuring words on my choices. Unless it has a number or an equation, I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to design/decorating. So I am always questioning my decision. My pendant is shaped like this. So would I still get the top sconce, vs. the bottom sconce?...See MorePlease help me pull this room together.
Comments (73)Sharon - Make yourself a mood board (like the example @Jodie Teeters made for you, up above). Put on the pics of your room and then the artwork you are considering. Seeing it all up against each other will help you decide whether of not you will like it. I just used Microsoft word (make sure you click on each picture and choose "wrap text" as square so you can overlap them). I like the red bird because it pulls the red tones in your space but has a color for up against your white walls, but it might be one color too much. The peacock looks a bit glam and sort in keeping with funky zebra chairs, but still has some brown to coordinate with the couch. The white pictures have some nice movement etc but with no frame it will blend into the wall too much - for those I would paint the edges of the canvas with a matte black. The little yellow bird is crisp and has black and white and cream, but I'm not so sure about the yellow. Play around with it and find what speaks to you......See MoreHow to make this space pulled together and cosy?
Comments (3)That is a whole lot of backyard stuff you got. Maybe too much, but the main problem I see is the competing themes of full service children's playground and outdoor living and dining rooms. For starters put the basketball hoop out front on the driveway where it belongs. Build a decorative fence/screen to separate the playground from the dining and lounging areas. Find a new home for the firepit until the children have left home. Once you have all the stuff organized and grouped by category, then you will see what kind of room is left over for plants and greens and stones....See MoreAngelique
