I'm sorry, but I think the whole "nook" looks a little silly. The rug on top of carpet, chair facing a wall, a cube ottoman and tiny table...it seems a contrived and uninviting space. If you want a place to sit, get a full size chair and ottoman and place them facing the center of the room.

Are you facing away from the room toward something? A view? Agree with grover. It almost looks like the time out corner the way the furniture is placed now.

I love a little chair in a corner! You have a good start, but do angle your chair outward. I would not use the storage cube there, and would consider adding a small table lamp if the table will accommodate it (looks a bit small though). Here is my bedroom corner setup. I use the chair to sit and check messages on my phone, take off my shoes, etc. My cats like to sit on the table and open the shutters.

Sorry but the whole thing looks contrived and too dinky. My guess is you'll never sit there and gaze out the window and drink water from the small bottle.

As others have suggested a comfortable chair with an ottoman and a reading lamp would look better and be more practical.

You're right to do a table and chair in that corner, but everything you have is way too small. Get a bigger chair and a bigger table. Remove the cube and the rug. And I wouldn't hang art work in a corner.

As others mentioned, the items, while nice in themselves, look too small in proportion to the height of the walls. If you want to look out the window but have the vignette look right when not sitting there, you could do a swivel chair.

Hi Honey, you are on the right track with wanting a cozy sitting nook, the photos provided above should be very helpful and if you really look, it doesn't have to break the bank. Think oversized chair, cozy faux fur throw, if you like neutrals, beiges, use several layers and add maybe a bit of chocolate to warm it up. There is nothing wrong with using a rug on a rug or carpet, layering is fine, it just has to be done correctly. You'll get there, hope this helps, best, Debra

I am wondering how you are planning to use the space.

Will this corner be used by one person at a time as a private reading or day-dreaming corner, or will it be a place for two people to sit and talk and or read?

If it will be the former, you only need seating for one, a table large enough for a drink and a snack for one person, and maybe your teapot, if that is what you do.

If the latter, you want two chairs, and a table large enough for two drinks, or a tray with tea paraphernalia. The two chairs don't have to be the same, the style chair that is comfortable for you may not be the same as what is comfortable for your partner. You can unify them with fabric, color or throw pillows.

Also, the corner should have a floor lamp so you can see what you are reading.

I love, love vintage torcheres, but they are very hard to find, maybe in an antique shop, but that is just me, and it might not go with your room anyway.

Do you put your feet up? Do you need a recliner or do you need an ottoman or a foot stool? (As to which of these, comfort is the deciding factor, your hips, legs and feet will tell you how high they want to be :)

Forget what anyone says about a recliner being déclassé . This is your bedroom. Do what is comfortable for you (and your significant other. )

I do like the idea of having a private sitting area to talk in your bedroom. This way you can have a discussion that the rest of the family or your guests are not a part of, and you can also have a discussion without getting fully dressed if you have guests.

By the way, walls these days are not made of plaster the way they used to be, they are not sound proof in the least!

There's nothing like a white noise machine to help disguise sound, and when the "grown-ups" are talking, what they say should be P-R-I-V-A-T-E.

Lilian, before you run out to buy the furniture you mentioned above why not do a Dilemma for those pieces so hopefully you will get some good advice and make wise purchases. Spend your money carefully.

Now that you have moved the position of the chair I think your corner looks very nice. I would go ahead and hang your art. Not too high...it should relate to the chair. And I would pull the rug out a little bit from the wall. Using what you already own makes a lot of sense to me.

If you want to look out the window, can the chair go on the other side of the dresser so that when it faces the window, it also faces toward the center of the room?

The main problem with the vignette is that it's way out of proportion. It makes the rest of the room look like a bedroom for giants. Since it's functional, I would go ahead and use it as you intend to, but plan on getting a larger chair and ottoman at some point.

Reading nook? IF the chair and ottoman are comfortable for the person intending to use it, then, yes, it can work.

Consider adding a floor lamp to the left of the person sitting in the chair.

You might also consider adding a wall hung corner shelving unit above the table for the books you've not yet read or have already read in order to keep your table clear for a "cuppa" … coffee, tea, etc. and/or book mark and/or eyeglasses/case or to set aside the book you're reading and intend to get back to reading later -- perhaps something like this ( preferably with the same wood finish or painted color as your table, otherwise painted white or the wall color or any color that suits your reading nook according to your own personal taste):
