We have a frameless shower enclosure for a neo-angle shower and I personally wouldn't recommend doing it. The new thin-line European-style framed enclosures are almost as good-looking, half the price, and won't leak. I disagree that your existing tile is 'classic'. I think it's low-end builder grade, and very tired looking. You need to be absolutely sure your tile guy is correct in thinking he can tile over the existing floor. Has he done a deflection test? If not, get thee over to the John Bridge forum where you can find out how to do one. Here's a suggestion you may not have thought of. Call a local bath reglazing vendor with good references, and price out what it would cost to have your wall tile repainted. I'd do them a beautiful, glossy, crisp white, then paint the walls a nice rich medium-dark brown or slate gray. It's usually inexpensive, and will make it a breeze to keep clean because the grout will be forever sealed. Keep the ceiling white (this keeps it from feeling like a cave) and if there isn't any crown molding, get some. A small bath like this needs some nice style touches to give it a more luxurious feel. I agree with replacing the toilet with a glossy white one. But I'd use one of those half-depth vanity cabs with the sink top, for storage and space-saving. Both of my bathrooms are green. The master has tan granite-looking countertops and the walls are painted BM Aura in Metropolitan. Very spa-like. My daughter's bathroom is painted BM Quiet Moments. That color is very nice, as well.

I love the idea of the diagonal tile on the floor. Consider doing two tones, one the color of the wall tile, and one in the white as the fixtures are. It is a great look and will enlarge the feel of the space. I have two tones (almond and a medium tan)laid on the diagonal in the kitchen, and still love it every time I see it. I would trim the window in the white, to compliment the fixtures. I would do the walls in a deep chocolate brown, in the same undertone as the tile . It will be crisp and effective with all the white fixtures and trim. I would do the medicine chest and cabinet over the toilet in white as well. Chocolate throw rugs, towels something like this from Macy's: avanti towel collection A green plant or two would break up all the brown. If he were willing, you could do a medium blue towel and rug instead of the brown/beige, which would still be very nice with the white fixtures and chocolate and beige walls.

@mark_rachel, I changed to cedar key. I bought it to go with the new marble tile I picked for the fireplace. There is a lot of natural light in the room. It might be a little pinker than bleecker beige, but I don't really see the pink when I don't look at them together. To me it is a very very soft latte. In the store it felt more gray. On some adjacent walls, I have collectors item. It is a creamy color, seems like a very light version of the yellows I had before. It works with cedar key. I did not want to be surrounded by taupe or gray, which is why I chose to contrast with cream. My living area pallete right now is BM white, cedar key, and collector's item. The paint consultant picked out the latter two when I brought in my samples. I told her bleecker beige (taupe) was my least favorite color (sometimes you can't avoid things that work so well), and that I loved gray but didn't want to be surrounded by it. I lived with bleecker beige for several years. Visitors loved it. I think I was ready to tone down all the yellows on the walls and floor, so I am happy going with cooler hues. BM has a free 2016 color of the year booklet that features varying shades of white. I picked one up at my BM paint store.
