There's a passage about finding the perfect white that would make Gardenwebbers howl, however. ...and that's they way it is with ALL of them, meaning other people's color wheels and theories. There's some stuff that is applicable, some stuff that is good, correct information and some of it's ridiculous crap. When it comes to supportive color for the built environment, 3-dimensional architectural color NONE of the color wheels or theories fit perfectly. Because the authors are writing about color from their bailiwick. Sickler is a finisher, not an architectural color consultant. An architectural color consultant's perspective often misses on all things paint and paint color mixing. A fine arts perspective is very narrow and stuck in 2 dimensions. A set designer doesn't get what "humanly supportive color" means. A color scientist lacks ability to flip right brain/left brain and apply what he/she knows creatively. Lighting designers soar with colored light but stumble when it comes to the tactile. And I could go on. Out of all the disciplines graphic design is the most objective and broadly educated about color and theories because it works from both core spaces of color, additive and subtractive, hinges on color psychology and also has to deal with dimension in the form of printing and packaging. But scaling all that knowledge up to proportions of architecture is where it gets tough. Everyone is set squarely in their own zone of the color sandbox passionate that their spot in the box is the best, knows the most, and coupled with their gifted and innate "talent" for color, is able to translate *all* to color for the built environment. I tend to disagree. Many are not willing to concede that architectural color is its own, unique spot in the sandbox and while some aspects of other disciplines do apply, what's key is a multi-disciplinary approach, an ability to think objectively, and an open mind to see color, figuratively and literally, in bigger ways.

if it's on your walls, then for sure I wouldn't use it on the cabinets. You need some sort of break/contrast! what you do to bring in warmth and color is accessories. wood cutting boards, pendants, greenery, metal hardware, rugs, window coverings, shelving, glass in the upper cabs w/colorful dishes,,,,whatever! you certainly don't have to do the white subway tile. do the white cabinets and pick a charcoal tile. I can help you w/that when the cabs are done. that's easy. Right now your lighting is so yellow, its difficult to pick something. see if you can stick in a few more cans in the center. as a suggestion, I'd remove the valance and window treatment, and try something like this (in diff colors of course) and if you like the farmhouse white sink, try the drop in model. And I hope you're addressing the lack of storage. I get it. If possible, have some large drawers put in, somewhere, in order to store those items on the countertop. I had a drawer put into my island and keep everything in them. another suggestion, have a simple hood vent made (trim it wood if you like). the current one, along w/the valance and curtains over the sink, really date the space. this is how I did mine: whitetail cabs against a whiter wall. since you've already painted the walls, do something diff on cabs. can you imagine what this would look like if the cabs/walls/doors were all the same??! maybe look at some of these others that will compliment Whitetail. maybe Chatroom or Antler Velvet ?? I'd also do handles, not knobs, on the uppers. I think the gold would be pretty w/the granite.

Susie, thank you for your response! I think my decorator chose BM Dove Wing bc the interior of my house is BM White Dove. The SW Urbane Bronze just got thrown in bc she said it’s gorgeous on gutters. SW Porpoise (1 up on swatch from Urbane Bronze) proved to be really pretty on my front door with Dove Wing on the stucco. Idk why I’m complicating things. I think the existing yellow trim is throwing my eye off and making me feel like Dove Wing isn’t a big enough change from the existing yellow. That’s the reason I put white dove around the windows after painting the porch Dove wing. But if yellow undertones will bring out the pinks, I wonder if I should be looking for something with greyer undertones? My painter is coming today to start on the gutters and garage door in Urbane Bronze. At least that will eliminate a lot of the yellow and I’ll put Dove Wing on the windows and see what I think.
