I have the Ansr Beam, which I bought through Costco.com. It has the blue and red lights. I used it religiously for a least a month, but for the last few weeks I have been using the full body red light bed at a local tanning salon. It has no UV light at all. I got an unlimited package for $90 for two months, so I've been going an average of 5 days a week. I'm not sure if it's done anything yet, but I understand that the results take time. I read quite a bit of positive information on the red light treatment, but I went to my Derm today for a general skin check, and she didn't think that the red light was effective. I still have a few weeks left on my membership, so I'll see how it goes.

The only negatives found is one is plastic vs the Baby being metal. The Baby has higher power options, plus additional lights are almost as expensive as yours bundled.

There was also a mention of one from Ireland which is $20 less and includes shipping.

The one you are talking about would be far less than half with the 3 colors. I'd like to know how well it works on muscle pain too.

Terriks, did you see any improvement on wrinkles during the two months? Or are you using it for skin spots.

Terri, you have given me an idea -- maybe I should try a bed experience for a few weeks -- it would be less than the purchase and would probably be more powerful? I've found spas around here that have infrared LED beds...I can't imagine that you wouldn't have seen results by this point, though. That's puzzling.

And I second emagineer's question: have you noticed any improvement in aches etc.? I remember seeing far infrared saunas being sold for that purpose--maybe this would rejuvenate two birds with one stone? :)

Fly, I think that I am starting to see some improvement in my overall skintone. I wanted to do the red light bed to treat all my skin. I have seen too many women my age and older who are in good shape and look great in shorts or a bathing suit until you get up close and see how damaged their skin is. That's what I really want to avoid.

I asked my DH about this the other evening, because I saw an ad for it in a magazine. He was a pharmacist before he went to medical school (very smart guy), so I was interested to hear what he had to say. He looked at me, rolled his eyes, slowly shook his head and asked me to please not waste our good money on "gimmicks" like that. (Sigh!) I'm definitely not suggesting that he's a be-all, end-all expert on skin, but he did talk me out of trying it . . . at least for the time being ;^D
Please keep us updated on your progress, though, will you? You could be on to something the rest of the medical world hasn't discovered yet.

As I said, my Dermatologist basically rolled her eyes also, but it was fairly inexpensive, so I thought, "what the heck?" And actually, I didn't realize it, but I got 3 months of unlimited use. I know that people with acne have good results using the blue lights, which is supposed to have a disinfecting effect. The red light is supposed to stimulate collagen production.

Well, lynn, with respect to your DH, maybe you should say "something that some of the medical world hasn't discovered yet."

The reason I took it seriously at all was that the technology was originally developed for NASA, to aid wound healing in space. Here's just one link; google LED NASA.

Here is a link that might be useful: Biologists have found that cells exposed to near-infrared light � that is, energy just outside the visible range � from LEDs grow 150 to 200 percent faster than those cells not stimulated by such light. The light arrays increase energy inside cells that speed up the healing process.

There's more out there to google, and in a way it stands to reason: if UV light can affect the skin, why not IR light? Now I do wonder if it can have an anti-aging effect, or be more useful for medical purposes, but still *something* seems to be going on and we might as well see all the benefits it can offer.

You succeeded in arousing my interest. I have only heard that ultraviolet rays cause aging, but it can treat many skin diseases.
