Wse moved from Ontario to Tennessee. Up in the Muskoka's I did see the stars as you both described......all I could do is lay on the ground and be amazed at the universe. Shooting stars one right after another, I could see oribiting satellites, distant galaxies that sparkled like diamonds. We're to close to town here in TN to ever see something like that.

Without a doubt these items would be useful to us. Our family which includes 3 Jack Russell Terriers, now lives in the countryside in a foreign land where fires are frequent, poisonous critters lurk and predators are on the prowl (this would include the not so animal friendly natives). We have fencing, we keep our dogs in house when going out to places where they are not allowed and in the evenings they are snuggled up in house with us. We try to take every precaution to keep them safe including canine school. However, unless you are a perfect person in a perfect world, there will be accidents and anyone who has a feisty breed such as the JRT, knows that there is no such thing as escape proof anything. If there is a way, they will find it! Our biggest worries are fire, bolting and dognapping. The combination of GPS and WEbcam to mobile phone would certainly give us more confidence. The capability of being able to speak to our "furkids" might even help to calm them-us down and give us all a sense of security. :) Our furkids:

Sandra Walsh ~ I know what you mean. My dog Oreo, in the comment above, is a Jack Russell Terrier and Border Collie mix. JRT is a great breed. Smart but very fearless and adventurous.
