Annie, that all looks delicious. I keep hearing about Nutella but have never tried it. I saw some on a store shelf recently...can't remember where.

I made two loaves of my old standby Honey, Oat and Wheat bread yesterday. It makes three loaves....the third I made into hamburger buns.

Today I am doing AnnT's sweet rolls. We do love those!

I'm on the right side of a sinus infection! Yesterday went to the farmer's market for strawberries--one vendor, strawberries only. Had to have some. This a.m. will be strawberry shortcake for breakfast! Ahhhhhhhhhhh ........

What kind of protractor did you use to measure the cuts so evenly? :-)

gldno1, I grew up on "farmhouse white" bread, heavy with eggs and milk because we always had those and were trying to use them up. I'd much prefer a crusty multi=grain for my own consumption, but the kids really like the sweeter stuff and they like the tops brushed with butter while the loaves are hot from the oven, so the crust stays soft. Ah well, they'll grow into it, maybe.

Oh dear, beachlily, I do hope you feel better soon, it's been a strange weather year all over and a lot of people keep fighting the sinus things. Strawberry shortcake, though, with good local strawberries instead of those styrofoam imposters? That sounds heavenly.

dcarch, I used a pair of kitchen scissors. Cheap ones. (grin) I just snipped around the loaf until lit was all snipped. I thought that front piece where the seam ended up on top after the dough rose looked kind of cool, though, so I was happy.

I'm leaving for the farm this morning, we're supposed to get another storm, this one a fast one, and the weather people are projecting an inch an hour until lwe get about a foot, and possibly some rain. I don't mind the snow, I hate the ice storm, so I hope they are as wrong as they usually are. If not, Maybe I'll experiment with some pasta filled with ricotta and spinach tonight or tomorrow...

Deb, the Nutella ring was really good, and i brushed the top with egg and sprinkled it with sugar before baking, which made a nice crust. It would have been better with coarse sugar, I think, or maybe it would just be prettier.

Cookie, the Nutella ring was a lot less sweet than I expected, I used about half a cup of Nutella, at room temperature so it spread well. There was enough bread to keep it from being overwhelmingly sweet. The kids both added more Nutella when they ate it but it was really nice with coffee this morning. Definitely try it!

Tami, my midnight snack was very nice, and Cooper agreed, just hot bread with a smear of melted butter, I saved the Nutella ring to take to the kids while it was still intact. It was all good anyway, I I'm having a cookie right now!

I had never tasted Nutella until I heard about it on this forum. I didn't find it in a grocery, but did find it at Walgreen drug stores. I'm not a big hazelnut fan, but the Nutella is good.

Annie, as you are well aware, those molasses cookies are a HUGE favorite of Erin's (and mine too!)

Never would've thought to try the Nutella in the tea ring myself - I think it's perfectly brilliant! And definitely on my 'try soon' list.

Beachlily, Those strawberries are beautiful. I immediately checked the box to see if they were from Plant City, my part of the country! The Strawberry Festival is in about 4 weeks; I'm looking forward to the best of the best.

Of course they are from Plant City--is there somewhere else??? Those farmers have worked hard to extend their season to February. Camarosa strawberries are the very best!

Annie I made those molasses cookies last Christmas and took a batch to my Dec. consortium meeting. The librarians went nuts over them. One of my girls is married to an Aussie and they bring me crystallized ginger whenever they visit his family. I used lots of that...mmmmm...

Those strawberries are gorgeous. I have several packages in the freezer that we picked last summer but they're nothing like field fresh. It's 14F. Fresh local strawberries seem so far away.

Katie, I'm glad to see you again, you stay away too long and I miss you. Like you, I like LOTS of crystallized ginger in them, nice and "bite-y".

Arlene, the imposters are the ones that they pick green, spray red and ship a couple thousand miles. When they get here they are still hard, plus they are dry, not juicy and they are white all the way through when you bite them.

Fresh and local are something else, but if you tried to ship berries that perfectly ripe to Michigan, by the time they got packed and loaded on trucks and driven here and unpacked and on the shelves to sell them, they'd be a big moldy lump. Plus the varieties of berries they've developed to be sturdy enough to withstand shipping have not been developed for flavor, that's for sure....

Strawberries here will have to wait until June, everything in their own season, or I can eat styrofoam imposters but they sure aren't worth it.

Those are beautiful, though, I'm sure glad you learned to post pictures!

Katie, we love Buderim ginger from Australia! Molasses cookies with that ginger would be amazing, however DH scarfs it down in its nugget form!

Ugh! I didn't get to the ring today. The girls wanted their usual Nutella crepes. I will make note of the sugar topping. I've got coarse sugar on hand. Your molasses cookies are on today's baking list! Yum! CANNOT wait for those to come out of the oven!!
