Spring Color in the Kitchen
Fresh Greens, Pinks, Yellows and More Enliven Your Interior for the Season
The forecast calls for cold rain this weekend in many parts of the country. Sadly, it's nothing new around these parts, where everyone's rain boots and umbrellas having been getting a major workout thanks to what seems like an eternity of soggy days. Spring, are you here yet? I know that rather than frolicking around in the sun come Saturday, I'll instead be inside, probably whipping up some stew or baking cookies — anything to keep dry and warm.
If I can't yet go outdoors to appreciate the vibrant colors starting to bloom, I'll have to bring them inside to the kitchen instead. If you're also in need of a little seasonal pick-me-up in your home, these colorful cooking spaces could provide the inspiration you need to get ready for spring.

Shades of light blue the color of a bright spring sky perk up even the most dreary of days.
A fresh green gingham tablecloth and flower-flecked curtains make this kitchen look like spring personified.
A row of colorful bowls and an aqua-trimmed doorway helps too.
Open shelves display cookware in a spectrum of colors, while the sky blue backsplash and counters make for a cool balance to all the warm wood tones.
A yellow backsplash and a rainbow of chairs perk up this white kitchen. When the weather finally changes, the wall of windows will invite plenty of sunshine in.
Cabinets in the softest of blue-greens look like the color of a sparrow's eggs, and remind me that the season is ripe with the possibilities of new life.
Trees are already positively dripping with lemons out here in California. The color also reminds me of this month's freshly blossomed daffodils.
Fresh flowers, brightly colored glassware and a well-placed fruit bowl quickly get this room updated with the sunny tones of spring.
Fresh tulips are soon to be on their way, but you can have their coral-y color year–round with this shade accenting the kitchen.
Every color makes a cameo in this lively space. Here's hoping its rainbow-inspired palette is a harbinger of the sun starting to shine again soon!
