A Waldorf Hysteria/Surprise dinner is:::
Comments (8)Hi, my sister did one of these for Halloween one year. We all sat in the dinning room and she and her MIL were the waitresses. They had pads, and each guest ordered 3 items at a time. They had each item on the menu numbered so we ordered by number and they had the correspoding items lined up in the kitchen (out of our sight) labeled with postit notes by number. Here is her menu - I saved it because it was so fun I thought I would copy it some day - I hope it gets your creative juices flowing... Halloween Mystery Menu 1. scaredy cat (chicken) 2. monster mash (mashed potatoes) 3. slimy works (spaghetti) 4. graveyard grass (salad) 5. vampire stake (toothpick) 6. tiny tombstones (corn) 7. frankenstein's brains (apple pie) 8. bucket of blood (V8) 9. table tines (fork) grainy grenades (rolls) crystal compound (water) bovine extract (milk) witch's warts (peas) guano cake (brownies) jiggly junk (jello salad) black magic (coffee) cold as death (ice cream) spill remover (napkin) gravedigger's shovel (spoon)...See MoreWhat time do you eat dinner?
Comments (25)Here the evening meal is also called supper, dinner is the midday meal, now called lunch. Elery and I both grew up with family meals, everyone sat down together and ate together, no television, radio, etc. If I watched the news during a meal, I'd probably get sick. Elery spent a lot of years working a split shift but his ideal time to wake up is 5 am, sometimes before. He'll get up, make coffee, have breakfast. I get up closer to 7:30 or 8 am, and don't want to eat right away. If I do have breakfast, dinner/lunch tends to get skipped, we generally have two meals a day and a snack at night. Because Elery's work schedule had him off work at 3 pm, he wants to eat by 5 pm. That works OK for me now, although when the girls were in school and I worked full time, I didn't get out of work until 5 pm and dinner was 6:30 or 7 usually. As a general guideline we have breakfast by 9 am, no lunch, supper at about 5 and a snack for Elery and Cooper at 9 pm sharp, Cooper can tell time, I swear. Elery is asleep by 10 pm and I stay up until 1 or 2 am sometimes, so neither of us get as much sleep as we probably would if we had more regular schedules. Comments (4)What style is your home/kitchen? If anything BUT traditional, I would strongly urge you to consider deleting the wall between the kitchen and the dining room, and turn the island 90 degrees. This way, from the kitchen you can look out at your guests seated at the island, and across the island into the great room, and from the great room looking back at the kitchen you would see a much more welcome sight of the bar seating and the range (rather than the end of a skinny island view). You would lose cabinets on the bottom wall, but you would get a much larger island. Or you could add a couple of feet of depth front to back, allowing you to turn your island....See MoreNylon cat collars
Comments (4)I dunno, thats definately weird. Both my cats wear break-away collars made of nylon, and they definately never shut-up, and their talking is anything but quiet....See More- 12 days agolast modified: 12 days ago
