Anyone used these SW colors on exterior trim?
Comments (10)On my SW Whites and Lights brochure, there's 50 true whites, cooler whites, and warmer whites. Alabaster is a true white. I have Alabaster on my ceiling because I saw it recommended a few times as a soft white. Pure White and Extra White are listed as true whites. IIRC, Pure White was brighter than Alabaster. Eider White is cool, with green undertones imo, Nacre is warm and looks a little green/gold, and Creamy looks like a pale cream--not grayed down, but not bright either. I don't have Incredible White--I cut a few off trying to pick a ceiling color....See MoreNeed help! Accent color for sage green exterior?
Comments (12)I think darker blues like a navy or blueberry would be smashing with coastal plain and white. My own house is a sage-y green (Glidden High Tea) with Bleached Wheat (yellowish cream) trim and a medium-dark red door/mailbox/numbers -- can't remember the name of the red. I could see an avocado ish green working also although maybe not with high contrast white trim. I'd just stay away from any orangish or coppery or deep yellow tones. Make sure the red (if you choose red) has a blue-ish undertone....See MoreSW White Duck on exterior- what trim?
Comments (20)We ended up with Shoji and Urbane Bronze but think the general rule follows. I really had a hard time choosing whether or not to paint the soffits dark or just the fascia. Since we decided to not trim out windows, kept the garage door white, etc., we felt the dark soffits would add dimension. Now I am so glad we did! Think it would have looked a bit flat for me with Shoji soffits, but think dark soffits can look very heavy and clunky depending on other choices you are making and the style of the house. In general you will paint soffits either whole house color (white duck in your case) or whatever trim color you are using. Hope this helps! Comments (13)What's most important is that you like your home. You mentioned above wanting a timeless rather than trendy paint color, but the house itself checks all the current trend boxes. Stone on the bottom, craftsman columns, shakes in the gables, an extra gable or 2 for good measure -- it's as if builders have a formula. Here I raised the stone on the single garage, extended the porch roof across to the garage, moved the gable from over the window to over the door, moved the 2 windows together, removed the large central gable, and extended the main roof to the right (guessing the right side 2nd floor roof looks something like the 2nd picture below). Unless there is a reason, this part of the roof might better match the front. Difficult to see, but I also added trim between paired windows -- better seen in the images above, and I'd do all windows like this. The goal being to simplify the elevation a bit. I did some renderings in another thread that may give you some ideas for colors, but they are made up colors and not specific to any brand. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/4710835/help-with-exterior-colors Can your builder provide you with something similar?
