Stucco for 1920's Tudor? Gray, taupe, white, something else?
Comments (10)Callieandkarin...Your home is beautiful. I think that no matter what color you paint the stucco, as long as you use a darker color around the windows, it will stand out. My fireplace, which you can't see in the picture has different shades of brown, tan and reddish and the Revere Pewter goes beautifully with it. Are you planning on adding shutters as well? Also, thank you everyone for your sweet comments. To answer some questions, the vine is mandevilla. It is practically the only thing that can take the brutal sun we get in the front of the house, so I have it everywhere! I don't have a pic of the whole house as it is hard to get. My home is a Sears home. I have attached the website that shows what it looks like (with a few minor differences). It is the Hillsboro model. http://www.searsarchives.com/homes/1927-1932.htm...See MoreHelp selecting paint colors for our tudor exterior
Comments (19)When we bought our house the previous owners had painted the timbers to match the original (water-stained, never painted) stucco. I wanted it to look more like a traditional Tudor so I took a shade from the darkest brick for the timbers and something close the mortar color (but a bit warmer) for the stucco. I love your stone! If I had your house I'd take a dark shade from the stone, and considering the roof color, use a brown for the timbers and a natural stucco color as in Pal's example. Remember the that the sun can fade or wash out the paint when you pick your colors... There are many Tudor style homes here (Kansas City area) and I see so many variations. A lot homes with stone do the timbers in a lighter tone than the stucco and they look great too, more French Country IMO. Your present colors don't suit the stone or the roof - but you have so much potential!!! Good luck!...See More1930’s stucco Tudor exterior remodel
Comments (8)I love tudors and their arched doors and yes, I can see your house now! Even though your house is a tudor and mine is a Cape Cod, we have very similar roof lines. Our fireplace and chimney are on the left side of the house. I also suggest a lighter, brighter main color for your house. We had our house painted Taupe Tease from Behr Marquee, used Superior blue trim, and since red is my favorite color, we have red doors too! I'm not suggesting you do the same but picking some beautiful interesting colors will help a lot with curb appeal! We also have vinyl windows and the only painting I've had to do, on the interior side, is paint the window sill and trim. Here is a photo of our house so you can see how they painted the trim around the vinyl windows:...See MoreEnglish Tudor Paint Colors
Comments (24)Thanks everyone for the suggestions! After seeing some of the suggestions I agree that keeping it traditional will look best, and lightening the color of cream to not be so buttery would be a great improvement. I love the first photo from celery girl and also the modern feel of LL's exterior in sealskin color. I also like Kathy's cream color suggestion- Kathy- any idea what color that is? Also, I was not joking about the red door for an additional pop and modern touch to the traditional exterior. Any suggestions for door colors would be appreciated too. :)...See MorePaul F.
