Comment on paint scheme & brick
Comments (1)I would go with the wife's choice but choose a color for the house that has a bit more brown in it. Your color is too blue. Take a look at Amherst gray HC-167 or Chelsea Gray HC-168...See MoreIs this paint scheme too light for the brick/roof/gutter colors?
Comments (12)Thank you both! Any specific Benjamin Moore recommendations to accomplish a warm white and earthier, sage green. For warm white, they were thinking Swiss Coffee or Atrium White. For the grey/green shutters, they like Ashley Gray, but would prefer something with just a little bit more green in it. For what it's worth, I know we can look online, but I find the colors shown on a computer screen are very misleading! ETA: For warm white, considering a lower LRV color such as Hushed Hue, French Canvas or Muskoka Trail...See MoreExterior paint scheme - what color to paint 7(!) doors
Comments (3)Thanks for the Cottage Red suggestion Houssaon. I might want to go a bit more bright/true red, but that is a really good muted option. As far as Edgecomb Gray trim, the windows, soffit, eaves and railings are stark white, so I was leaning towards a fairly white trim to blend better....See MoreHelp me plan exterior colour scheme on 110-year old brick semi
Comments (5)Personally, I like the "eyeliner" look of dark window sashes with light window trim that is common on historical buildings, and on your house right now. I think it looks more interesting than sash and trim the same. Whether it's black and white, black and another color, or two other colors entirely, I would recommend choosing two colors, one dark and one light. They can be the same shade in different intensity, i.e. black and charcoal, or navy blue and a lighter gray-blue, or totally different, like black and white or navy blue and cream. Then use these 2 colors to create detail and contrast throughout your exterior trim. If you want to add a 3rd totally different "pop" color, that could be on a place like the front door or small detail trim areas throughout. In rainyseason's photo, the "dark" color is black, the "light" color is charcoal, and the "pop" color is yellow. Whatever you do please don't paint the stone/cement blocks under the windows (or the brick, but doesn't sound like you plan to). Someone did on my brick victorian and it's really hard to strip back to natural color and frustrating....See Morekandrewspa
