Coral brick paint color scheme for outside
Hi, we have a home that needs to be painted. My issue is it has coral brick. I'm trying to find a color to compliment the brick but not take it back to the 70s. The front porch walls and the garage door i want to paint. I'm thinking of taking down the shutters. I also want to paint the front door different also. My roof is black shingles. I thought about going with black on walls, garage door and black on window edges. I've searched online but can't really find the same color brick I have. Thanks in advance for your help!

16 days agolast modified: 16 days agoWould you consider a gray/green shade? It can look really nice with your brick. I wouldn’t use black. Yes, I would definitely remove the shutters. If possible, or as time permits, consider a different style front door. A garage door with windows across the top could be nice.

Comments (12)Thank you both! Any specific Benjamin Moore recommendations to accomplish a warm white and earthier, sage green. For warm white, they were thinking Swiss Coffee or Atrium White. For the grey/green shutters, they like Ashley Gray, but would prefer something with just a little bit more green in it. Comments (5)Personally, I like the "eyeliner" look of dark window sashes with light window trim that is common on historical buildings, and on your house right now. I think it looks more interesting than sash and trim the same. Whether it's black and white, black and another color, or two other colors entirely, I would recommend choosing two colors, one dark and one light. They can be the same shade in different intensity, i.e. black and charcoal, or navy blue and a lighter gray-blue, or totally different, like black and white or navy blue and cream. Then use these 2 colors to create detail and contrast throughout your exterior trim. If you want to add a 3rd totally different "pop" color, that could be on a place like the front door or small detail trim areas throughout. In rainyseason's photo, the "dark" color is black, the "light" color is charcoal, and the "pop" color is yellow. Whatever you do please don't paint the stone/cement blocks under the windows (or the brick, but doesn't sound like you plan to). 16 days agoDefinitely get a new door as soon as you can. Maybe one with glass. The one you have leans Victorian. I agree the shutters should go and a new garage door with windows.
Here are two colors I like from Benjamin Moore. I would paint the gable taupe and the back of the porch and gable trim a creamy white. Paint the porch ceiling haint blue; it is so calming.

But your home doesn't have the wood shingles or the rod iron details. If you did go with black you would need to think about updating your light fixtures

15 days agolast modified: 15 days agoI would do an almost black brown . All siding , garage door trim and leave the brick as is . IMO painting brick instantly devalues your home You need a new front door IMO in a MCM style and the garage door too . This is a grea texample of both the garage and front door that could work. I love the landscaping in this pic too . If possible remove all those shutters for sure . Was the brick DO NOT power was just a nice spray from the hose all with a big bucket and a scrub brush with some cleaner in it before painting but after removing the shutters . I love Black Bean Soup BM for a color

15 days agopscheele most of them were on Sherwin Williams color snap. The one of the black trim on windows I made it with a paint program on my android. I also colored the whole image green on color snap, saved it. Cropped the garage door as a jpg file and attached it back on the original image with this paint program.
