favorite back of the bag/box recipes thread
Comments (29)I made the recipe from the back of the Hershey's Cocoa box and it was pretty good. It's a chocolate cake recipe with chocolate frosting. I love a recipe where the only ingredient for choclate is cocoa, because I keep that on hand. I usually have a square or two of baker's choclate, but never enought to make a whole recipe with. I buy it on a per project basis. It wasn't quite done on time, so I left it in the oven a little longer and the edges got a little overdone. A glass of milk helps with that. It's a very dark and moist cake. The order in which you add ingredients seemed a little weird for me. Maybe because I'm used to making cookies. You start with the flour, sugar, salt, soda, powder, and cocoa. Then add the eggs and vanilla. Then some milk and a cup of boiling water. Strange order it seems. I'm sure it would have been even better had I not baked it in silicone baking pans. I really dislike those things!...See MoreFavorite Thread for Machine Quilting
Comments (10)I want this answer, too! I am doing FMQ at the moment and started with a rayon, switched to a poly and I still get the fraying on the top thread. Next I'll go to the quilting cotton. New needle (cleaner eye) was no help. I would like to hear what anyone else has to say. I don't think it can be my machine as I did get good results once and just forgot which I used. I'll put a big sign on my wall for next time. I go from a FMQ UFO to an applique UFO, then to a piecing SBS block UFO and by the time I get back to my FMQ machine, I forget which worked best for me. Oldtimers disease I suppose....See MoreFavorite Threads Thread
Comments (27)Bee: That was me who had the screaming fight with the GC. I can't locate the thread and can't recall who we wound up casting as him...someone sufficiently appealing to reel me in as a customer, but ultimately smarmy. Harvey Keitel? I do recall that I wanted someone like Julia Roberts or Scarlett Johannsen to play me, but sadly had to realize Kathy Bates was more realistic. Even more sadly, the saga isn't over yet....See More'My Favorite Things' comment thread
Comments (18)I had so much fun with Casey's idea, I'm really looking forward to another one. I was really surprised at how the photos all fit so well with the song. Glad you all like the mittens photo....I had made them all for some special (goofy)friends at Christmas. Each either had a meaning (i.e. taxi mittens, pond/goldfish mittens) or try to fit the personalities. They thought it was a hoot!! Girls in white dresses got me too!! As did silver white winters melt into spring....beautiful pictures!! Casey what a great "game" you gave us...thanks so much Taigen...See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
