Tragic news for a very close friend of mine

My friend Pat are very good friends. She and her husband rode in the Ride for Dad for years and we met them when Tom was the Honorary Captain the year he died. Her husband and Tom passed within 2 months of each other and Pat and I really became close.

She and I go for toots in her convertible, and she hosts "game nights" with several friends. We play pool, play cards, shuffleboard, darts. Food and music. I love going. The white-out is an adult water bottle!

Anyway, her son was rushed to the hospital with a heart attack. They did surgery and he was in the hospital for several weeks due to complications. He passed away last week, and he was only 43. Leaving a wife and 3 kids. She only has a daughter now, losing her husband and son. What a shock.

thank you all for your best wishes sure helps allot . saw my doctor today blood count is a ok only have to go once a month for the next 6 months . I think he just wants to see my smile every ,month :)) plus my money :)) I have to go in one day this week to have an xray taken of the bone in my leg for now he thinks there maybe a chance of an infection in the bone . no artery problems no clots in the viens , & no nerve damage so only other choice to look at is the bone ))) other then that he just says no heavy lifting so guess I will have to watch what I put into my friends boxes :)) for a week or so :))) I sure enjoy all your cards & letter bettyboops summer lapp nancy sneed p. johnson s speed d schoedel m seehusen b. henricks a traversilovefarac pchang lisam djm906 & so so many many more thank you all. good night my friends susie

I have never understood the unsupervised children within 10000 yards of water. I almost drownd when I was 15! We too were at a party and mom assumed of all the adults there that surely someone (most likely the owners of the pool) could swim. Well, they couldn't. I was toting my younger brother on my shoulders and slipped down into the deep end. The shallow end was abnormally small. I was used to it being half and half....this pool was not. I had my brother on my shoulders (he couldn't swim at all) and his head was above water. I didn't throw him off because I knew he would drown. Instead I waited to be rescued. I remember hearing the screams while I prayed. I passed out before anyone came. My mom who was a very weak swimmer jumped in and pushed us back into the shallow end. She thought I was dead. I was under water for a little over two minutes and no one there thought there was any possible way I could be alive. The main concern was saving my little brother. My brother almost drowned my mom with his panicking. From that day on my mom would not let us attend pool parties AT ALL unless my dad could go. If we spent the night at a friends her first question was always "Do you have a pool?" She will tell you that that was one of the worst and most scary moments of her entire life. It's such a tragedy that this little girl didn't get as lucky as me:(

It's amazing how reliant so many of us get on these things! Yes I have a new one and getting it organized a bit. I haven't buried my old friend yet. I'm going to see if a heart transplant can bring life back. Been wanting a second one anyway. I have plenty of machines around I could get a desktop put together but the notebook is so much more convenient. The worst part is how it happened two days before I needed to head out of town for a picnic. And of course all planning, checklists, etc, were in there! So my memory got tested. But I survived it and had a good time. Used some of the time at the motel to download some of the huge files too. 135mb just for Windows updates. Then of course antivirus, spyware programs, etc. Thanks all for the kind words. But the reminder for building a "naughty chair" is in the old computer so it'll be a while before that'll happen! ;) I'm getting some thunder here so I suppose I'd better log off. Don't need the new one to get zapped.

Oh, that is so tragic for her and the rest of his family. I imagine outliving a child is one of the most difficult things a parent can go through.

Seems like everyday there are more and more 'younger' deaths. Heart is often the culprit. Very sad for everyone.

I am so sorry to hear this, Jasdip. Losing a child must be awful under any circumstance or at any age. May you all find peace.

My good buddy called me yesterday after she & her DH returned from a visit with their daughter in another state. Their DD is now under hospice care from matastatic breast cancer and not expected to be with us much longer. They will return soon to be there with her if possible. Their DD is 41 and has fought a very aggressive form of breast cancer that doesn’t respond well to any treatments. She has no children but it doesn’t make it any easier on her husband and family.

Yes, how devastating and terrible. My heart goes out to anyone who loses a loved one.

I was talking with my aunt recently - her husband died from brain cancer at a similar age, and she said his mother said to her, "Why couldn't it have been me instead?"

Jasdip, I cannot imagine losing a child. With time, I hope your friend, you, and all her friends can think more often of the happy times like that in the photo. It is the sort of tragedy that makes one want to throw her arms around the whole group and hold them tight.

So sad. I get the idea, though, that this family knew how to LIVE, not just let the days pass by. That's some small consolation in this time of sorrow. Your friend is lucky to have you -- and you to have her.

I am so sorry to hear about your friends son. So very hard for his wife and kids.

My brother died at the same age of a brain aneurysm and I don't think my mom ever got over it.
