Can I have a frameless shower door opposite the shower head?
Comments (13)I don't see anything in either code that prohibits it. P2705.1 of the IECC Residential code (2015) doesn't appear to mention it at all, and the UPC 412 (from 2018 at least) is about Urinals (whether or not a shower constitutes a urinal if you pee in the shower is out of scope of the UPC). :) UPC 408.9 mentions it this way: "Control valves and shower heads should be mounted on the sidewall of shower compartments or otherwise arranged so that the water does not discharge at the entrance of the compartment so that so that the bather can adjust the valves before stepping into the shower spray" So nothing to do specifically with the thing pointed at the door, moreso can you turn on the water without being sprayed by it, which is a good idea anyway since that first blast is likely to be quite cold....See MoreFrameless Glass Shower Door Swing Dilemma - Please Look and Help
Comments (38)with 3 young boys I really wanted a urinal in my house, space doesn't allow it and my husband thinks it's a terrible idea. When I dream about installing one I think of all the clean up it would save. Though my boys are being trained to clean up after themselves - I think my 89 yr old is pretty good at it but my 5 yr old and training 2 yr old are not nearly as efficient as necessary. I am one woman who thinks it's a great idea! Rachel...See MoreRemoving receiving wall on tub/shower combo. Crazy idea? Shower head?
Comments (2)Our hall bath is set up like yours without a wall between the tub and toilet I did not plan this it was how it was put in in the twenties. You will need a two piece curve bar with a ceiling mount bar. I find two shower curtains with an opening in the middle of the front of the tub the best for keeping water from splashing out with my kids, oldest is 9. I have a cheap Costco railhead/ hand held combo which when aimed properly is never an issue. Pardon my bath it is nearly a hundred years old and shows it age. :( toilet at end of tub with curtain only Shower head combo which has worked well in ours Shower curtain set up that after much trial and error works with the kids unsupervised. Without the curtain my toilet would be wet so you will need something there I believe, either glass panel with glass doors or two curtains and wait for doors. i actually prefer curtains to glass for bathing small children and I also prefer curtain to glass for kids and guest who most likely will skip the squeegee process....See MoreTwo shower heads
Comments (16)Thank you mrs pete and lake view girl. It may be too late to change the design, mrs pete, but I'll pull the plans out tomorrow and take a look at them. I think we already have a built in designed for that area. I think a mobile bench might be the way to go. The shower will be curbless with a linear drain on the long side of the shower, away from the bathroom. I am now thinking I will just have to give up and do a complete glass enclosure. I so badly dont want to. I hate having to worry about cleaning the glass. But there will be 8" of space between the glass partition and the vanity. Now there is another problem...I wanted a small window at the top of the shower but putting the shower head at 7 ft. May mean this isnt possible? There would be great views of the mtn. From there....See Morevinmarks
