I do have a lovely pink set of Pyrex bowls that were my Grandmother's, but I don't use them because I'm scared that I will break them, like I did her peach luster pie plate and that pink pressed glass fruit bowl. I'm kind of a klutz. (sigh) Grandma liked pink, I also have an old pink patterned candy dish that she got as a wedding present clear back in the 30s, but I am very, very careful with it.

As for that new pink dish, I set it on the counter next to my red Kitchenaid mixer and it looked like Valentine's Day!

Bragu, when I venture out to the store I'm going to see if they have other sizes. I like having a prettier container to serve things in like hot dips or that layered Mexican dip. They are "gloppy" if I remove them from the cooking pan, it's prettier to leave it in the baking dish, so now I have a pretty dish to leave it in. Although I'm relatively frugal (the kids say "cheap"), I'll pay the extra dollar or two to get something made here and hopefully keep some of my neighbors working.

I was curious, since collectors go wild for the pinks from the 30’s. These are the ones on the AH site (obviously, they'd rather you shop at Meijer). Really pretty! Nice daughter. ;)

Annie.....sounds as if you are very pleased with your new dish. I was going to tell you if you weren’t I would gladly take off your hands. I think that is very pretty. I have a thing for pretty dishes, old ones, new ones, just dishes.

Amazing what you can find at the seconds store. Good stuff, not junk.

Wow, Plllog, that's way more expensive than Meijer! I checked today and the only pieces they had left were a couple of loaf pans and one more 8 inch baking dish. An employee said they were "very popular", so she thought they'd be getting some more in.

Shirl, I like the pretty glass pieces too, I often find them at my local on line auction, but usually remind myself that I have more than I can use and storage place is limited. I usually refrain from buying those odd plates that "would be pretty for cookies" or the cut glass tea pitcher or whatever. My Grandma liked "pretty things", so I have some of her cut glass bowls and pretty platters, if I'd just quit breaking them!

Yeah, MSRP can be shocking! I was just trying to show what pieces are in the series. If it's on the AH website, it's in the stores, and if Meijer are sold out, they'll surely reorder. Usually, when something goes out of production, it leaves the maker's website long before the shops run out, The prices are the we'll sell directly to you if you really want us to but we're not competing with our retail partners price.

I'm just going to have to keep watching at Meijer, that section is right next to the canning section, where I keep watching for lids that don't appear...

Amanda has already "called dibs" on Grandma's pink Pyrex, so it's in the top cabinet, waiting for Bud to move out. That boy drops things more than I do, and I can at least blame carpal tunnel! Ashley mostly wants my canning jars, not the ones I use every day but the 100 year old ones or the odd ones, who knows why. Things I really, really do not want to break I have put away and I seldom use them except at holidays. They aren't valuable, but Mother likes to see them, as they belonged to her Mother, so they have their place on the holiday tables. I have so much cut glass/pressed glass/carnival glass/whatever that I could stock a couple of kitchens, so I use the pieces that mean nothing and just keep the others, taking up space until the holidays come.
