Unique Color Combinations: Pink and Green
One of my favorite things to do is to play around with unusual color combinations. One combo that I'm exploring on paper these days is pink and green. We see this in nature when we see pink flowering plants.
What I see when these colors come together is the beautiful feminine appeal of the color pink combined with the stronger, more rooted appeal of green. I think that this combination can strengthen a feminine space or add a touch of femininity to a more masculine room.
It is not common to see either of these colors boldly displayed in a room. When it's done right, however, it can really be effective in creating a new mood in the space. Or you could just use these colors as simple touches in a more neutrally designed room.

The green appliance lighting is only a small fraction of the color in this pink kitchen. And yet, it definitely stands out. I would love to see a pink furnished media room with green glowing electronics in it!
This room is a great example of how pink and green work together. The green chair with a pink pillow, the green pillow with pink designs and the pink and green floral art all provide a solid sense of femininity for the room.
You can only see the hint of green here in the old-fashioned bottle sitting on the dresser. However, I chose this photo because it reminds us of the fact that both pink and green are colors that were used in home design in days gone by. The right shades put together with the right vintage pieces (like this great tub) can create a really wonderful retro look.
This eclectic sofa gives the eye a lot to look at. Focus, however, on that patch of green fabric with the pink flower on it. Wouldn't that be lovely as a chair, a pillow or a set of curtains?
Sometimes a real plant is the best way to add greenery to your decor. The bold pink of the walls here is a bit much for me but a softer version of pink with a more permanent hanging green plant in the room would really be pretty.
This is a great example of a girl's room that is done in pink and green without having to be too, too pretty. The pink is definitely girly. However the olive and light green shades in the drapery and pillows lend a sense of strength to the space.
I am a firm believer that black and white together can be added to nearly any color combo to make them all work. Here's a great example with black and white pillows set between green and pink pillows. What do you think?
This room shows how little touches of each color can work well in any space. A green chair here, a pink stool there and you've got a room that is colorful without offending the senses.
The green walls of this room could come off as neutral or even masculine. However, the wild animal prints along with the bold pink pillows lend a distinct feminine appeal to the space.
