I worry that the white vanity may look off with all of the biscuit colored items in the room. I would go with a darker brown vanity that looks good with the undertones of both the countertop and the biscuit, and then go very light (off white) with the walls and floor to keep the room from going too dark.

My master bath currently has bone colored tiles with white floor tiles and white tub, toilet, vanities... when I moved here the walls were painted spring green with gold fixtures everywhere and it made me nauseous! The bone colored tile looked so dirty! We got rid of the shiny brass fixtures (they were corroded anyways) and replaced them with chrome, and I painted the walls a light blue with a lot of grey in the blue to tone it down. It made the bone colored tile look fabulous! We still need to gut the entire bathroom (shower is unusable and leaks into our family room below, we’ve tried three times to repair it without gutting it because we’ve had to do so many other projects before this bathroom) but at least the bathroom no longer LOOKS bad.

I am in the process of "updating" a master bathroom for a client and we removed the corner garden tub, capped off plumbing and replaced flooring to create a small area for a sit down vanity. We put wainscoting up around where the tub was to give it a nice finished touch. But, you MUST figure out what you can spend first. That will help you figure out what you can do. As a minimum, I would remove the tub, cap off plumbing and wainscot the area, then paint the vanity a color you like, replace the flooring to work together with color for vanity and paint the walls accordingly. Replace lighting for more light.

Hi Patricia, thanks so much for your input, much appreciated. No we can´t have a freestanding bath because of the plumbing. When you say stacked do you mean the 45cm x 90cm (i meant 45cm not 40cm) tile goes with the 90cm going up the wall, or more like bricks going across? Would love to hear from you. My tiler says I need to order soon as its 4-6 weeks to arrive!
