ISO advice on waterproof engineered hardwood flooring

Hi, my wife and I are looking at two different products and price points for the floor of our basement renovation (yes, we know waterprof engineered hardwood flooring isn't really waterproof, thanks to Houzz). One is a 5" wide, 1/4" inch thick plank from a brand carried via Home Depot. The other is 7" wide, 11/32" inch thick plank that we would order elsewhere. Both are wood veneer, finished with aluminum oxide, over an SPC or limestone/polymer core. The thicker, wider plank is $1-2 more per square foot, and thus $1,000-2,000 more for the overall project. While we can technically afford the expense, we are on a budget and don't want to buy something more expensive just for the sake of buying something more expensive. What would the thicker, wider planking get us in terms of durability, water resistance, resale value, underfoot comfort... ? Thanks, Nathan Day
