under cabinet power outlets?
Comments (27)I work for a utility and it has been ingrained in me that, even when not in use, an appliance that is plugged in is an "energy vampire" that is costing you money. So for us, everything from the keurig to the toaster to the slow cooker and electric griddle gets plugged in only when it is being used. The exception being things like tv's and the built in microwave that is harder to unplug. So we obviously chose under cabinet outlets when we built our new house. I love them and that my backsplash isn't messed up by outlets....See MoreCan I add under cabinet lighting?
Comments (20)If you have an L or continuous area between you sink and range, consider doing that area. My under cabinet lighting in this area is the best thing I did in my refresh. This is my before DIY set up - cost about $75: https://www.houzz.com/photos/my-pics-work-in-progress-phvw-vp~48485162 Then the electrician wired it to a switch. I had asked for an outlet up by the cabinet like Oliviag has, but instead, he wired it to a switch. Here is the after. https://www.houzz.com/photos/my-pics-work-in-progress-phvw-vp~81033766 The switch is not in the pic, but to the left of the paper towel holder. The cord from cabinet to cabinet is supposed to be tucked into a cut, but I keep forgetting to do that. I have to say - that if I could have only my under cabinet lighting or a new counter - I would take the lighting - the most functional thing I did. https://www.houzz.com/photos/my-pics-work-in-progress-phvw-vp~110720042...See MoreUnder cabinet lighting and hidden outlets??
Comments (1)No. Plugmold goes at the back and under cabinet lights at the front....See MoreUnder cabinet power outlets in Ontario Canada
Comments (5)it seems that the plugmold I have seen online is not 20 amp, cfgi, tamper resistant etc. As my electrical knowlege is limited to plugging things in I am at the mercy of the supposed experts I have talked to. I know nobody personally who has this installed in their kitchen. Re Patricia’s remarks, beggars can’t be choosers in my town…I’m lucky to have gotten a contractor at all, two others turned my job down as being too small. The third’s quote was far too high so basically trying to make my job bigger! I wanted the undercabinet outlet in two areas where I very rarely plug things in, and when I do it is temporary only. Undercabinet lighting is definitely in the plan. I’m looking at maybe Dals Powerled linear or Good Earth premium slim Led bars. I will definitely look up Luton products. Thanks....See MoreBonnie Riley
