If you are worried about the view from a seating area, then you have more issues than just electrical outlets. The underside of your cabinets will be the standard interior color of light maple unless you upgrade all of them to matching interiors. That will likely be distracting to someone who is worried about the prominence of the outlets. The solution is install a pancake outlet box with the outlet itself ordered from Lutron to color match the color of your cabinets as close as possible. Then install the UC lighting housings. Then skin the underside of the upper cabinets with a veneer and put on the color matched cover for the outlets and the housing cover for the lighting. The applied veneer will be cheaper than paying to upgrade a whole run of cabinets to matching interior and it will give a much more finished look to the underside. Just the satin colors!

Task Lighting sold by primary distributor Hardware Resources as well as several other sources on the internet has the lowest-profile outlet strips I've seen anywhere, the APT series. They also have units that are outlets and lights combined for under the cabinet, but i am not sure if they offer those in the low-profile option as well. You can check out the brand here: https://www.hardwareresources.com/tasklighting The Legrand Adorne system also has a nice-looking under-cabinet lighting system where the lights themselves would fit into your space although the outlets wouldn't be as low-profile. You might want to take a look and see if you like the look of Legrand Adorne and could live with it even if it is a little bulker than you wanted.

thanks... I think I read that it's considerably more expensive (unsure how much) and a bit bulky? I want everything to be concealed and don't need all the bells and whistles, just under cabinet lighting and outlets

The range wall is south, and the garage is behind it. The garage has a flat roof--so we can do a window about 8.5' up on the wall. The peak of the ceiling is about 13', so it's at about 11' directly above the range. Yes--we get blasted by afternoon sun on the sink wall, though it is somewhat mitigated by a chunky porch pillar (all year) and a large oak tree (during summer). Specs for the range require 36" to the hood (it's a thermador pseudo-professional gas range). I don't have uppers on the range wall (personal preference), so I can't do light strips / under cabinet lights / hidden outlets there, but I do want lights under the upper cabinets on the refrigerator wall.
