Here's a vid for comparison of my Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart running two sets of sheets (queen and twin) and several pillow covers on the designated Sheets cycle. Run it at full-screen and 2x speed to see the rollover more clearly. Wash period starts at 6 mins 55 secs. Sheets cycle on AquaSmart is a specific deep-fill level, although not as high as the machine above. It's for sure too much water for one twin set of sheets, almost too much for one queen set, good for both sets together. Agitation alternates through three patterns -- long slow rotation, long slightly faster, short faster.

Cindy, we have relocated 2 chipmunks this weekend...never just one of them either. Hope your strawberries are safe for now. Coons seem to be more wary and harder to catch. Fortunately, we don't seem to have many around...or they just have not found us yet! Looks like we are in for a week of hot and muggy weather. It should get the tomatoes, peppers, and squash growing better. I hope to get out early tomorrow and get some fertilizer on them. I may look for something the use on the tomatoes for fungus...this week looks ripe for that. Usually I don't spray but I have a feeling it might be good to do this year if I want my plants to produce for any length of time.

Well those new plants from the Boncel leaf look like regular cylindrica pups, no stocky shaped leaves.. This tells me that Boncel could be nothing more than a chemically treated offset from birth and will grow out of the short, stocky habit over time and go back to it's natural shape. It would be interesting to hear from anyone that has an old, large Boncel as to what leaves look like after years of growth. My experience seeing pictures of begonias grown under lights is that colors are changed and much intensified vs the same species grown in strong natural sunlight. That might explain Stush's red colors in leaves of Coppertone, altho what I'm calling pink you might describe as red. I think the greens may have had a reddish tone, so this might be what you noticed. Regarding your low humidity in the tent, how big is it? I initially thought you have a small enclosure with a few plants in it, now I'm thinking you can walk into it. The desert type sans like your pinguicula and the one similar to Samurai or possibly sp. Lavranos 23251 won't appreciate higher humidity, but trifasciata types and parva might. If you haven't already, setting bowls or saucers of water among the plants should raise humidity levels. Dear Norma or whoever wrote about a 3 foot terminal spine may have meant 3 inches, which would still be a formidable spear. Chahinian says that leaves only grow to a foot long in maturity, and interestingly also says that the leaves go from sticking out in all directions in youth to being arranged in single file at maturity. For those technical folks, this is called a distichous form of growth. What are the 'other plants' in the tent that are doing so well? I don't get why the cilantro isn't growing like a weed in those conditions. Good old Houzz, I found that you can close the big spaces between paragraphs to a more reasonable space by submitting, clicking on Edit at the bottom, and clicking Submit again.

Hi all - I jumped into this thread early in the month and then got caught up in work. Today was a good day to thinking about gardening though, with 3-4" fresh snow on the ground and more coming down throughout the day. I sure am glad I ordered the bulk of my seeds over the Christmas break. I just checked the results of a germination test with some old seeds (2014/2015) and placed a small order with Seed Savers, which is now publishing a 30-day shipping delay. These are seeds I don't have to start until April, so that's fine. I have broccoli seeds from 2014 that are still germinating at a great rate, so that was nice to see. My next big adventure will be going out in the next week or so to purchase some compost. We only started our pile last summer, and it's frozen/covered in snow, so I need some for my seed starting mix. I'm doing a homemade mix and trying soil blocks this year (the Elliot Coleman method). My first seeds (onions/leeks) should be started around February 15, and compost is the only ingredient in the mix I'm still missing. Trying to figure out where to get it (might end up at Home Depot) since February isn't exactly prime compost time in Wisconsin. @Cindy - I'm going to try germinating some Hot Portugal seeds from 2012 this year, so I'll report back on that. :) In the past I think I've only had to use seed that was 2-3 years old.
