Question about Halibut
Comments (38)Wish people would stop misunderstanding and get on with it. FOAS: I Googled " Italian recipe - Merluzza in Marinara Sauce " Some members are knocking Whiting and the other fishes I mentioned. I was trying to find a positive attitude towards all the other fishes, I have enjoyed thru the years. Seems like Flounder, Haddock, Trout, Salmon which is in the Trout family and others are not the best because the price is lower. Maybe I'm misunderstanding now. I saw a few of the Garden Web Posts when I Googled. One was Posted in Sept.09 Fresh Tomatoe Sauce and long Simmered Sauce Here is another I copied: Jarred Pasta Sauce May 09 AnnT: I think what they are talking about here is a close Duplicate for, the Home Made-Italian Style Spaghetti Sauce ( Gravy ) Which is the Crushed Tomatoes, Puree and Paste, with all the Goooooood Spices and Meatballs , Suasage, Chicken and other meat thrown in too. Some use other style tomatoes. This is a different Style Sauce than Marinara I didn't go back and read the Threads again, because it seems like it has been going on for a long time. - - - - - - - - - - I did use a can of Del Monte's 4 Cheese Spaghetti Sauce, yesterday to make a double serving of Spaghetti and Meat balls for a Neighbor Cancer Patient. I only had to add some Garlic and Onion powder. Would never have thought to use Del Monte's. My Daughter brought it up and said to try it. I Posted this on WFD, which is going South once more. - - - - - - - - - - I do your Marinara Style for cooking Whities, White Fish, ( Merluzza ) and other Seafood. Sometimes with Chicken. That's what Marinara means( of the Sea ),Marinaio ( Sailor) When I lived in Phila. there were many Italian families, who came over from Italy, in the neighborhood. A lot of them were from Coastal Towns and did a lot of Marinara Style sauce. My Uncle was one of them . He was from Abruzzi, Italy. When I visited him , I was the Garlic and Parsley Chopper. My Aunt was the Cook and he told her How and What. The Fish was always delicious in the Marinara Sauce. Bread Dipping Good !!!!! We use a lot of Garlic and Parsley, with a pinch of Oregano, along with the Spices you mentioned, alon with 1/3 cup of Muscatell Wine. There are probably some members who " remember " and do the Marinara Style with Fish and Seafood, or Maybe I'm a loner. LOU...See MoreAnyone stopped smoking after years of smoking?
Comments (38)I have been a lurker here forever...never posted. I know how hard it is to quit smoking. I smoke for over 20 years about 2 1/2packs a day. I quit 5 years ago. I had tried to quit several times but always went back. I quit by picking a date.I told myself that it was going to be hard but every day would be easier. I also read that when you quit smoking your body is over the withdraw from nicotine 48-72 hours after you last smoke. I told myself the first 3 days would be the hardest and after the 3 days it is all a mind game. I really believe that is what help me stop smoking is knowing that my body did not need the nicotine, that it was my mind. i did take a mini vaction from work, some people say they get very tired from not smoking.... The first 6 months are hard....you will give yourself every excuse to smoke again...it has been 5 years and once in great while i will still get the urge to smoke...I know I cannot smoke or even try to smoke...because I will be right back where I was. I wish you the best of luck...See MoreThoughts plz...any reason a 19 yr old boy needs to be out all night?
Comments (63)I have three sons, one of the hardest things I've ever done is tell my youngest son he had to move out. After several years of up and downs with him, one night he never came home, I was scared to death driving around the next morning looking for his car. Finally he walked in the door, I was relieved he was alive but angry and screaming at him. I removed myself from the situation for several hours, then lovingly and calmly told him he needed to move out, I think I gave him five days. It was very difficult, but knowing it was the right thing gave me confidence to stay the course. After he moved out, we rarely spoke, his brothers kept me informed how he was doing. I called him inviting him to thanksgiving and Christmas, he'd decline, I'd politely hang up then cry. One time I called him inviting him over for dinner, I was surprised he accepted, over time he was part of our family again. The end of the story is he has told us our kicking him out was the best thing we did for him....See MoreGastritis help. Any thoughts?
Comments (79)Thanks everyone. Sorry for the delay in responding. My head is full these days and had to spend the last two days unloading my computer of excess weight. Last thing I wanted to do, but now computer seems to be behaving more like its old self. I really appreciate the advise and well wishes. I'm passing it on to dd. She's surprised to know so many of you and your loved ones have had to overcome this. She is trying believe that she too can improve like a lot others have. Yes, the clam chowder recipe would be great, if you see this mtn. Thank you. I don't want to mention the name, but I got a notification that someone made a post on this thread, but I'm not seeing it here : ( I was looking forward to reading it. Not sure if it went poof or if the person removed it. But thank you for taking the time to write it. Just wish I could see it. Happy news to share for those of you following along. Perhaps being back on sucralfate, or the two new supplements shared here, not sure which is in play, but dd has reported less pain in the last two days. She's very relieved. May it last! The nature of this seems to be hit or miss, so hoping she continues in a positive direction. She did teach herself to knit for stress relief a couple years ago, but hasn't been able to bring herself to pick it up again this year. I wish she would, but... When I was at an unhealthy work enviornment for a few years, I crocheted a lot of hats, scarves and a large blanket. I found it to be a sanity saver, so yea, I wish she would pick up knitting again. Maybe she will in the near future. I leaned heavy on crocheting to help me get through that troubled work environment. Hugs to everyone : )...See More- 6 years agolast modified: 6 years ago
