Outdoor receptacle for PHEV

I have a Plug In Hybrid Vehicle and want to install an outdoor receptacle for its charger. Currently, the charger which came with the car only draws 12A, so it works with the builder-installed receptacle on my front porch, but that receptacle is in an inconvenient location (and the car's manual says to not use an extension cord, although I do have to use a 12Ga extension cord). I was thinking about getting a 4" weatherproof box, wired from the back with 12/3 cable, for futureproofing. I would only use one 20A circuit now, but I could easily upgrade if I ever got a 240V charger. Does this have to be a GFCI receptacle? I went to HD to find a single-outlet GFCI, but they don't seem to exist. I believe GFCI is required for all 120V outdoor receptacles but not for 240V ones, is that correct?
