Oh yeah! Lots and lots of whoopie pies while my kids were growing up. Drew in the neighbor kids for blocks around. Pumpkin are my favorite. The kids were all partial to devil's food.

-- "Peel and stick" vinyl tiles on the kitchen floor. Any moisture in the cracks has led to unpeeling and unsticking, particularly in front of the sink and fridge. -- Failing to check what primer the painters used when they painted our house trim. We bought the colored paint ourselves, but because of the cheap quick-dry primer most of it started peeling within a year. -- Planting violets, daisies and mint underneath the rose bushes, all of which ended up spreading far and wide, seemingly impossible to eradicate. Not a huge problem, but annoying. -- The neighbor's gardening boo-boo was worse than mine. She planted morning glory along our mutual fence. Talk about invasive! It tried to take over both our yards and two years later she's still trying to get rid of it.

Well dang! I thought I had gotten it off Facebook or Pinterest but I can't find it and I'm not at home. I can add the recipe later. It's mashed sweet potatoes, white cornmeal mix, pumpkin pie spice (which I don't like so I used cinnamon), eggs, butter, a little sugar. I think that was all. It was really good.

My understanding is a slab pie is baked in a jelly roll pan, making it a thinner pie, but you can serve it to more people. I've never made such a pie, but it looks to me like something akin to a bar cookie or a layer cookie. If I want a pecan pie, I sure don't want all those other things in it! Pecans are very expensive nuts. I'm not messing them up. I agree, and I am frugal with pecans ... but those things sound like they'd mesh well with pecans. If you really, really want THE BEST pecan pie, though ... make a Butterscotch Pecan pie. Oh, my, yes! will it have a shorter cooking time? I'd investigate several slab pie recipes ... and also some bar cookie recipes. I think the danger is in failing to cook the middle of the slab. Check the temperature too while you're at it.
