I saw that! It made me laugh! I am sick of the pumpkin spice craze. I love pumpkin, and love all the pumpkin treats that come out. But pumpkin spice? That's called cinnamon.......maybe a little nutmeg. That's it. Nothing pumpkin about it.

Just NO! I do like pumpkin but don't get the "pumpkin everything" craze. Trader Joe's is a perfect example of pumpkin products everywhere. Crazy!

chloebud -- it's not PUMPKIN -- its pumpkin SPICE. Which means cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. There is absolutely NO pumpkin in ANY of the pumpkin SPICE products. The clue is the fact that it says "spice"! I'm not sure when all this started but it drives me crazy! Why don't they just say cinnamon and spice?

Had to hop on GW to comment : ) While I do like "allspice, cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg" - the spices preported to be in this (weird) spam, in my pumpkin pie... That's just... ew. Even Linus, who believed in the Great Pumpkin, would agree I think ; )

Ick. I thought the pumpkin craze-e-ness might fade away. I'm seeing it in coffee creamer and chips. A potato chip, if I indulge, (love a basic plain lightly salted chip that tastes like potato)....but why the chemical flavors?

I remember my parents keeping Spam in the cupboards in case of emergencies like long power outages, etc. I'm sure I've eaten it before. I'm sure I wouldn't want to try the pumpkin spice version. :)

I do buy potato chips. Laura Scudder did make her first packaged chips on basic kitchen equipment, so there's probably a way to make them at home, but so not worth it. I get TJ's Ode to the Classic Potato Chip. They're salted potato flavor. I know that's pretty radical, but they're good!

It's been forever, but my memory of Spam is that it's grossly salty. Just the thought of any version of it makes me a little ill. :-/

Isn't there a beer brewer that comes out with seasonal flavours like pumpkins spice beer?

I admit, I do not understand the need to put pumpkin spice into everything.

Colleen, I know there are lots of producers that make various kinds of pumpkin ale/beer. Not sure if they use the actual pumpkin flesh, the spices, or both in the process. My husband brews his own beer but won't be going the pumpkin route.

Please congratulate your husband for showing admirable restraint.

I’ll admit I’m a sucker for pumpkin/pumpkin spice this time of year. The other night I bought a box of Entenmann’s pumpkin donuts. By morning my kids were yelling at me about the empty box. Tonight I saw pumpkin ice cream in the Turkey Hill case. Almost bought it but then realized it wasn’t Turkey Hill (I don’t think.)

I think I’ll pass on the Spam though. I can’t even get myself to buy regular Spam. It’s been on my to-try list for years, but every time I pass it I just can’t bring myself to buy it.

We ate fried Spam when I was a kid. I wonder, if I fried the pumpkin spice Spam and poured maple syrup over it...???

I did notice that Spam was popular in Hawaii, but I did not have it in sushi. I did like it in fried rice, however, and that's how I would use it, if I had to. I did buy some turkey spam to use in case of emergency, but I have so much other food that I doubt I would get to it.

I don't hate Spam, but I do consider it a salt substitute, like soy sauce.

I LOVE Spam. Always have. Had fried Spam sammiches as a kid, and made them for my son as well. To be honest, I have not had it in many years now, but if you put some fried Spam in front of me, I would devour it.

I also LOVE pumpkin spice flavors - every fall I look forward to the new flurry of yummy goodies that come out.

But - Pumpkin Spice Spam?? NOPE.

Been eating Spam since I was a kid and that covers a LOT of years. Had it straight out of the can, fried, on sandwiches, in scrambled eggs, straight out of the can in a fishing boat with wormy fishy hands, on campouts, etc. etc. Now days, I tend to buy the short cans since sliced across instead of longways, a slice fits perfectly on a cracker or for that matter, two crackers if you want to make it a cracker sandwich.

I've always kind of laughed a the Spam haters who are convinced that it's made up entirely of noses, tails and other slippery or unmentionable bits that no one wants to eat. Ok by me, that just means the store will never be out of Spam when I need to replenish my standard pantry of a couple of cans. After testing though, I decided long ago that I'll leave the Smoked Spam, Spam with Jalapenos, Low Salt version and other varieties on the shelf at the store.

Ugh. That is doubly disgusting to me. I can't even look at Spam (the pink blobbiness) and pumpkin to me tastes like dirt.

TXSkeeter, you might be thinking of haggis! Tried a bite in Scotland this summer and gave the rest to my (raised in Scotland) hubby!
