(BUt they didn't think to show the drain pipe coming out of it sideways so you would never know unless someone told you ... !) Alternative: Go to mountainplumbing.com click on kitchen click on the first link there. It's kitchen sink strainers. look at the options, and you'll see "Remote Pop-Up" Again it shows the thingie that sticks out sideways instead of downhill. Again, this is what the drain pipe gets stuck into. and that is how you get your kitchen sink drain to be redirected at a low cost. It actually takes up less space than the product called a drain elbow. So, if you want to save space, this is a solution. Compact plumbing. (compact DWV plumbing). it just so happens that a "remote drain pop-up" assembly gives you a tight-elbow bend without asking for it. It's an advantage they didn't ever think of showing. The manufacturers of this device have totally missed showing that it enables one to have a drawer base under the sink. They don't even think of showing you that the drain comes out sideways. on youtube they have bathroom pop-up videos, but nothing for the kitchen yet. Bathroom pop-ups do not send the pipe sideways. (And I don't know why not). here are some more web search results. searching using "elkay LKAD35" you get to see a complete Z-shaped drain pipe. I'm fairly certain that Once you've seen a photo of a drain pipe zigzagging like a Z (or half of a swastika) you'll wonder why in the world you needed to SEE the image. It is quite simple to imagine and to draw without any previous experience. Here it is on the ELKAY web site. Cnet is reporting that AGV is experiencing a problem and it is not just at Garden Web. a quote from them........."It is not infected. This is a problem with AVG and it is happening on other sites as well. AVG is notorious for false positives"

I have them in mixed shrub/perennial borders. Mine are reasonably leafy - I wouldn't describe them as "nothing but twigs until so late in the season". I like the contrast between their bluish foliage and the surrounding greens, and the late summer blooms are a beautiful steely blue. They like full sun and well-drained soil, not what I think of as Pachysandra's favorite growing conditions, so yours may currently be suffering from their previous site. I think if you are looking for a plant that will bloom all season, this isn't it, but if you want something with nice foliage that adds color late in the season when little else is blooming, Caryopteris is great. They can be hard pruned (often dies back to the ground in winter here) so if you don't like the form, next spring prune them to a few inches and let them regrow more densely.

I worked on a house with similar problems where the solution was to install buried conduit(they used PVC Schedule 40 pipe) at a slight downward angle(like sewer piping) terminating in an area away from the house. In this case that area was the street gutter. Since this area freezes in winter, a freeze joint was used. A freeze joint is simply a gap in the piping which allows water to escape to the outside if the underground pipe freezes. One corner of our house has a downspout which is connected to an underground pipe which is U shaped, the termination is about 10 feet away on a down hill section of the yard. The effect is exactly the same as a long down spout extension, but is invisible. The first solution was done by a crew with a trencher, but the second could be done with a shovel, since the depth of the underground section is only a foot or so deep.
