Need help designing/decorating my dining room.
Comments (53)Your rearrangement of the seating is a huge improvement. For balance, you really need a longer couch instead of that dinky loveseat. Depending on budget, I'd keep the two black chairs (if they're Ikea's Poang chairs, I know they're comfortable) because they're neutral and allow great flexibility. When you do a gallery wall, don't use those frames with multiple openings for snapshots or anything like that cluster you have now. Choose your very best candid shots; remember, this is your artwork so it should be compelling. You can create a cohesive gallery wall by framing all the photos the same, or by converting them all to black and white or sepia tone. It's pretty inexpensive now to have them printed on canvas and stretched. One of my favorite uses of family photos is this:There are some articles on Houzz about creating gallery walls. The trick is to keep your grouping tight, to vary the sizes and orientations of frames, and to arrange them in a way that creates balance and movement. Houzz doesn't seem to be working right now. I'm going to quit my browser and return....See MoreNeed help with color picking, design and home decorating
Comments (5)You've bought a new house and have no idea where to start or probably even what you like. So stop right there and start looking at photos. Make an ideabook for each room in the house, go through the photos on Houzz or the internet and save the ones you love. Right now we have no clue what style or colors you're drawn to--you may not even know yourself--but before you lay out a bunch of money for furnishings and painting, do yourself (and us) a favor and find the look you want....See MoreHome office design/decor help needed!
Comments (5)What if you turned the desk so the person sitting is facing out rather than looking into the mirror. Look into getting a square rug for the space. what about some floating shelves for storage on the bike wall? What is around that corner? I found two cool options for the mirror wall one would use command strips to mount artwork: https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/plagued-with-dated-mirrored-walls-5-design-ideas-to-make-them-work-241744 or put a film or decal on them: https://www.spancraft.com/antique-mirror-collection.html...See MoreFoyer Decor/Design help needed
Comments (1)So for the hallway, I would recommend the Hemnes cabinet from IKEA (https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/hemnes-shoe-cabinet-with-2-compartments-white-20169559/. It has a small drawer where you could put the dog leash. If you don’t have one near you, they do ship but only to certain locations. For the family room, I would look at a storage bench with baskets like this one from Lowe’s (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Coastal-Gray-Wash-Storage-Bench/1000777730). But I would put one of each side of the desk if that would work....See More- 5 years agolast modified: 5 years ago
