Paint colors are usually based on the fabrics/textiles in a room. Without upholstered items, rugs, drapes, etc., we are in the dark. If you're leaving the carpeting in place, work with it to determine paint color. You seem to have an unbalanced mix of both cool and warm tones; try to unify into one, probably based on the unchangeable things like kitchen cabinetry or installed carpet.

As deco said, you have an unbalanced mix of cool and warm (cabinets and rug).

My thought is you choose a sofa which matches neither tone for your large upholstered piece and build on it.

Edmund, the ceiling fixtures and the chandelier….you can do better to give your space a more designed look.

I can't tell what function the low brick walls are serving,(is that a patio area? a garden?) but I do know that I had a similar wall around a side patio of my house. That side of the house had drainage issues due to the slope of the land. One of the first things my landscaper did was take down part of the wall because it was basically acting as a corral for the pooling water. I wondered if your walls could also be corraling water close to your house, which is never a good thing. I would try not to paint the brick until you've at least experimented with pulling another color out of it. I agree with earlier posters about trying one of the tan/brown colors in the brick to paint the rest of the house, which will minimize the yellow you dislike so much. If that works, change your outdoor lights to something bronze-y and substantial. You could find some bronzed house numbers to place either vertically down the one structural pillar or horizontally in the triangular space above the garage. Need Help picking cabinet color and design

The floor is pine, and I think I stain the floor with olympic brand honey oak stain with couple coat of minwax poly. The wood floor continue across the living room. The window trim has been sanded to a lighter color as you can see in th picture. I was going to order some unfinished rta cabinet like the barker cabinet, but I still need to pick a color stain. The other choice is to order the conestoga cabinet in nutmeg stain/hard maple. Well, I don't want my cabinet to resemble the floor color. I read somewhere white color is timeless, but I am a messy cook and my dog loves to rub up against anything. I am pretty sure I will put one wall and one base cabinet on either side of the stove, except the wall cabinet closer to th window will block some of the window wood trim. The island is going to be about 90" long. On the working side I am going to put a/36" sink base and dishwasher and two 15" cabinets. The other side is going to be an eating area, I am not sure if I want to do a raised countertop with 42" wall cabinets or keep the whole island flat across with base cabinet. The two tier setup with hide the sink and dirty dishes.

Comedy of errors (only after we had a few drinks was it comedic) 1. We greatly underestimated the effort to paint textured walls, especially on the ceiling. That and we're 15 years older than many of the projects we've done the past. 2. Turns out we got the wrong color paint. I'm not sure why I had a different color paint stuck in my head and even though I checked color swatches I still got it wrong. And now that we're going to pay someone to do it I definitely want to make sure the color is right. Only after I came back to this post did I realize I gave the store the wrong color. We're going to suck it up and pay someone to do it which is good because that also includes trim and doors. Although now I have to take a week off of work. Good news: we can donate the paint to Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

So I am going. to read through all of these suggestions afain! MIL is coming back in town so we want to just order something for the dining table so its already done and she doesnt try to talk my husband out of it (he is a pushover, lol) I actually saw some chairs at tuesday morning as a for now fix, do you a fhink the actual table is that bad,? because I guess we are just trying to find the right thing and dont want tocwaste tons of $$. do yall know if paint is expensive? have any of you done it by yourself.? I saw an article about how to save on smaller stuff like rugs and coffee tables I am going to look into! Dining table is a biggie. But I def want to keep the room so that it could match any paint color (like a white maybe, or grey) a coffee table and area rug. so whatever we bring in will work. i am going to re-look into ikea and post some pics too. I actually found a lot on pinterest too!

My first question is are all the elements that exist in the space staying? Flooring? Lighting? Cabinets? Wall color?

You've bought a new house and have no idea where to start or probably even what you like. So stop right there and start looking at photos. Make an ideabook for each room in the house, go through the photos on Houzz or the internet and save the ones you love. Right now we have no clue what style or colors you're drawn to--you may not even know yourself--but before you lay out a bunch of money for furnishings and painting, do yourself (and us) a favor and find the look you want.
