Need Help picking cabinet color and design

Hi, I am going to work on this kitchen and I need help deciding what color the cabinet works best with the window wood trim and floor color. I am leaning toward white color, but I am afraid it's too boring. I like wood stain, but I don't want too many wood tone color in the kitchen. My other dilemma is to build a functional island with lots of storage. The dishwasher and the sink are part of the kitchen island, but I would like to eat on the other side of the kitchen island. Great! Now we can see it. I have no layout advice but I think you can do stained wood or painted wood. It looks like in the pictures (correct me if I'm wrong) that the floor end trim is the same. Our last house had oak floors and cherry cabinets and it looked great. Good contrast, IMO. You can totally do a contrasting wood tone with that wood. More information would be helpful...what wood are the floors, what style is the house, dimensions and specifics of the other side of the room would be helpful I think for the layout guru's.

Can you do a flat raised panel framed by a groove? That's what I did for my KraftMaid vanity because I wanted something dressier than Shaker but didn't like the traditional raised panel center style. Where there's the bead around the flat panel you'd have a groove, along with the groove at the edge of the door. It's easy to keep clean.

I'm biased because I just finished painting my kitchen and hall this color but ... Eider white? It is a little warmer but also so pale you almost think it's white until you see it against white trim and ceiling. It does not read as beige or yellow at all to me. As to the cabinet color ... it all depends on your budget and if you like any of the woods that are available. I chose a stained wood because I like wood grain and wanted something super durable against dings and dents. Maybe see if they have any wood cabinets that are not overly red or warm, it looks like you really like gray so I'm guessing you like cool colors?

You've bought a new house and have no idea where to start or probably even what you like. So stop right there and start looking at photos. Make an ideabook for each room in the house, go through the photos on Houzz or the internet and save the ones you love. Right now we have no clue what style or colors you're drawn to--you may not even know yourself--but before you lay out a bunch of money for furnishings and painting, do yourself (and us) a favor and find the look you want.

I think it's easier to use one color if there is no clear delineation to allow color changes. I don't know how easily you can see the color of the granite with that yellow casting its shadow over the surface, but I'd be tempted to prime out the yellow to give a blank slate for better color selection. Thankfully, the previous owners made appropriate floor color choices, it makes your job much easier. I'd lean toward a soft white for the space. For the open spaces, you may consider walls, ceilings, doors and trim all the same color with the trim and doors in a different sheen.

The floor is pine, and I think I stain the floor with olympic brand honey oak stain with couple coat of minwax poly. The wood floor continue across the living room. The window trim has been sanded to a lighter color as you can see in th picture. I was going to order some unfinished rta cabinet like the barker cabinet, but I still need to pick a color stain. The other choice is to order the conestoga cabinet in nutmeg stain/hard maple. Well, I don't want my cabinet to resemble the floor color. I read somewhere white color is timeless, but I am a messy cook and my dog loves to rub up against anything. I am pretty sure I will put one wall and one base cabinet on either side of the stove, except the wall cabinet closer to th window will block some of the window wood trim. The island is going to be about 90" long. On the working side I am going to put a/36" sink base and dishwasher and two 15" cabinets. The other side is going to be an eating area, I am not sure if I want to do a raised countertop with 42" wall cabinets or keep the whole island flat across with base cabinet. The two tier setup with hide the sink and dirty dishes.
