Hi - thought I introduce myself

Since I seem to be posting sime on this board, I thought I’d introduce myself. I’m 1929Spanish, Spanish for short. I’m in So. California and spend more time on the interwebz than I’d like to admit.

I work in sales, love dogs, cooking and travel. Oh, and vintage bungalows, hence the name.

Hi!

Hey to all. Tanya, going to Warrenton this April was my first time ever to go. I had been hearing about it for years, but by the time I heard about it, it was over. Well this time I marked my calendar and went. Great exercise. When I would tell a merchant it was my first time they would ask, "have you been to Marburger?" I'd say no, can't afford to even get in the gate. There is a July 4th sale in Carmine I think. Some kind of auction I want to go to. Actually it's the Saturday after July 4th. Neat stuff.

Mind if I introduce myself? (with pics of my trees too)

Not all areas have the same laws concerning trees, but in my area, any of my neighbor's trees that are close enough for their branches to grow over my property, those branches become my responsibility. Any damage such branches do to my property, or to anyone on my property who get hurt under those branches puts me at risk of being sued, or responsible to pay for my damaged property. A few months back we had almost a week of off and on freezing rain that collected on the trees, and broke at least some of almost everyone in the area's trees. At that time city officials reported that if a person's tree fell on his or her neighbor's house or other property and caused costly damage, then under our local laws, the owner of the tree did not have to pay for the damages or even have to pay to have the tree removed from the neighbor's damaged house or other property. That seems totally wrong, to me. If that indeed is true, then it's my opinion that, in such a case, any neighbor should also have the right to cut down, or prune more of his neighbor's tree than just the parts which are spreading over the property line.

Hi Jen, thanks for the warm welcome! :) I know what you mean about lighting and room. The only windows at my house at north and south facing, and two of the three north-facing rooms are other people's bedrooms so I can't take them over! And oh, the hoya flowers are heavenly. Mine have yet to bloom, but I ran across a site with a lot of photos. Just makes me green with envy! ;) Here is a link that might be useful: Hoya flower photos galore!

Spanish- were you on the kitchen forums?? I seem to remember absolutely loving a kitchen with tiles that I think was yours?

Anyway, I'm Texas Gem or TG. Live in Texas, started on these boards during a kitchen remodel that just wouldn't end and ended up over here at the KT.

Yes thanks! We did an addition and a green kitchen in 2012. Stayed around since then - dropping into different topics from time to time.

Hi, Spanish, I've been floating in H&D Conversations and Building, and a little in Kitchens (I started out there, but eventually realized I'm never going to remodel a kitchen lol) and ventured to pull up a chair at the Kitchen Table from time to time, and finally found a comfortable seat so participating more.

I stumbled across the KT this fall. It's a nice board. Started in Kitchens in 2009 when renovating, then Building a Home. Still read those daily and participate on occasion. Certainly miss many of the regulars who left with all their wisdom over the Sophie thing. I joined the Facebook group, but it's not as conducive.

Hi Spanish; welcome to the KT! I'm DawninCal - my name is Dawn and I live in California although many, many miles to the north of you.

I was a lurker here for several years before joining in on the conversation two years ago. I'm a retired school secretary with a passion for making jewelry and who loves to travel with hubby. Among my other interests, I am a mostly failed gardener, a pretty good cook, a decent photographer, kind to animals and children, lover of shoes and whose idea of a good time is a day spent hitting the thrift stores for treasures and bargains. Actually, it would be a toss-up between the thrift stores or visiting a few craft breweries and sampling the brews. ;-)

Howdy, Spanish, and welcome to the KT! Glad to have you here.

I'm Rusty, and I live deep in the heart of Texas. I started out quite a few years ago on the Garden Junk and Stained Glass & Mosaic forums, then wandered into the cooking forum, and from there, migrated here to the KT. Great group of people here! I still visit a number of other forums, but this is my 'regular hang-out' now. I, too, spend more time on the 'net than I should, but I blame it on all my rusty joints, mobility can be a bit of a problem now. But I have to admit, I am fascinated by and addicted to the wealth of knowledge and entertainment, that the 'net brings to our fingertips.

Hi Spanish, I recognize your name from other forums. I live in central North Carolina, and have been on the old Garden Web for a very long time. I landed on the Kitchen Table after leaving a forum on a different site. I work for a lawn care company during most of the year, and during my off-season in the winter I do home improvement projects. We are currently working to get our house ready for sale, planning to drastically downsize and live on a sailboat. After almost 25 years in this house we certainly have a lot of downsizing to do!

Welcome Spanish, I have been at the Table since 1999. I am just north of Pittsburgh, PA. Somewhat handicapped, spend most of my down time reading, working jigsaw puzzles and out in my yard on my scooter enjoying all the life out there. I love, love dogs, none of my own now, but have two granddogs and all the neighborhood dogs know me well and expect treats that I always carry with me when I am out and about.

Hi Spanish. I ‘know’ you from the home decorating side. Welcome here!

I’ve been on GW since around early 2000 I think when I discovered the garden design and pond forums, then the bluebird site. Participated a little in the bath forum when we reno’d our master bath a few years ago and lurked around the kitchen site. Somehow I gravitated to home decorating and then here not too long ago.

I’m a retired engineer and was a manager/director at the company I was last working at when I retired. I love gardening, exercise, hiking, reading, and DH and I travel frequently. Both of us volunteer at our local Botanical Garden and do some other volunteer work. We live in north Alabama.

    Welcome Feathers, as well.

I found the Table in 2007. I had a question about bread-making in a bread maker. I couldn't believe how fast people responded! From then on I was hooked. The bread maker was a short-lived novelty, I prefer making it by hand.

Thanks for starting this 1929Spanish and letting me ride your coattails.

Ali, my feathers collection isn't that impressive to share actually but does involve a good story. A while back we hosted a neighborhood party where guests BYO drinks and there was a pretty little glass left on our porch that I found the next day. I posted a photo of it to our neighborhood facebook page so I could return it to its owner. No one responded so I put it on the desk in my office. Since then whenever I find a feather on my outings, I put them in this glass. It's got a few dozen feathers in it now so I may need to throw another party to get another glass.

Feathers, now I really want to see your feathers in a glass. lol

Here you go, Ali! It doesn't look full but there are a bunch in there. Whenever I need new glassware, I'm going to hunt for a set like this one. Sorry for the bad photo quality

That is a nice glass....looks kind of like a jar or vase. Thanks for the pic.
