Your great vacation
Comments (15)Absolutely, Larry! Day trips, stay-cations, are perfectly wonderful. We spent heavily on 'the big' vacation last summer, though the memories are cherished. For this year, we've reserved a site for camping 3 different weekends, 2 in May, one in July, which will cost about 1/6 of the big trip last year - for all 3 of these camping trips. If your state parks have camping, it should be very reasonable. State parks in FL (where we like to go, we're less than 20 miles from the border) charge $24 for most camp sites. There's no restaurants to tempt us with $25+ plates, which we always go for when out in a hotel. It's just us, the beach, and whatever we bring with us. We did finally go to Raleigh last weekend. Romantic notions of taking pictures of quirky roadside attractions quickly vanished. Holy cow I'd forgotten how crowded it is in that part of the country. The 'scenic route' we tried between Charlotte and Raleigh was totally bogus, and full of traffic lights and big rig trucks, no more pleasant or bucolic than I-85. Loved visiting the people, but driving around Raleigh is not something I had any interest in until/unless we got hungry and wanted to go to a museum. Life's way too short to spend it sitting at traffic lights like those. I spent more time at those lights last weekend than I have in the whole past year living here. That's one thing we love so much about New Orleans (and camping, for that matter.) Park the car when we get there, then it doesn't move again until it's time to go home. What are folks' plans for this year?...See MoreSo I picked my first ripe tomato (there's more)
Comments (7)So we were out picking yellow squash yesterday. I picked one, turned around, and repo dog did her best "I'm a good girl, see how good I sit, now please feed me what you have!" --waggy tail and all. I said, "Are you really serious? You want to eat yellow sqash? *waggy tail*. So I gave her a yellow squash. She ate it. Then later she ate my cantaloupe rind. she is a weeeeeird dog. :)...See MoreOther fave movies......

Comments (17)Hi Becky. I live in West LA and I got it from Jackie at Lincoln Pipe, 310-396-2667. She really is terrific and I love her store. I'm sure she would send you one if you just called. Definitely tell her I sent you -- um I suppose you should email offlist for my real name? Or if you tell her I'm the person who gave her the bike at Xmas time for her needy-kids drive that would work. She'll grill you, though, as to what happened to me; I haven't been in in a while. I didn't realize it wasn't widely available. But Jackie has a select small amount of stuff and what she chooses is, I believe, good. She's very high on that touch-faucet (Delta?) too. I would be spending more time with her if she hadn't screwed up a bathroom faucet purchase for me. That gave me, for better or worse, the permission I was looking for to go the cheaper internet route, but it's always a dilemma about supporting brick-mortar v internet. Most of the bigger "brick-mortar" places are *also* internet, but not so this place. This is truly small, single-family. They have potted toilets all over the place. They're located in a renovated garage; that should give you an idea of the size of their "display floor". Their coffee is delicious and I'm missing the weekend fantastic cinnamon rolls as I write - I had thought about going in this morning but didn't make it! :( Anyway, I had no idea this was so limitedly available. If we could boost it that would be rather terrific. If Jackie can't/won't mail it to you I'm happy to. Email offlist. Thanks. Does anyone want a photo of the underside of my deck mount? It's a tube about 8" max, I haven't measured it. The 20" of the nozzle is the measurement to the base of the nozzle head to the start of the crinkling, so that means the hose is probably a little bit longer....See MoreFun2BHere
