Other fave movies......

Besides the movie, The Gods Must Be Crazy, another old one, I like to watch, is, To Sir With Love. Every time I hear Lulu sing the title song, brings me back to that good movie. Any other good old ones you like to watch? Oh yes, another one I like is Murphy's Romance with James Garner and Sally Field.

Two of my faves are Ghost and Triplets of Belleville.

And please don't laugh--The Black Stallion. I was one of those horse-loving 8-year-olds, and I guess I never outgrew it!

The Black Stallion is a really good movie. I loved it.

I love musicals and all things Doris Day and Gene Kelly.

I love The Ghost and Mrs Muir, Vertigo, Hud, Raintree County, all of the Little Women movies, I have seen You've Got Mail fifty times at least and still love it, I could go on and on.

Hi Ken, My 'Maigold' this Spring Looks like the picture of Aurea Spicata in the Van Gelderen/ Hoey Smith Conifer Encyclopedia. I think Bob Fincham also said they are the same plant in his last catalog. The mature needles are more green like 'Golden Feathers' than blue like 'Spring Ghost' or 'Brotzmans' I have also notices that the late cold weather we had seems to have effect the color and growth on most of my plant including the conifers. Maigold's color was much better while Picea Abies Crusita's color held for a much shorter period of time. David

Yup, unexpected IS the key word. I have plenty of faves that I knew full well I would love, and I do. I wouldn't say that cinnamomifolia is an unfavorite, but it irks me. I guess burtoniae also falls into that category. I want to love it, but it doesn't do much. Except die back, little by little, now and again. Ha ha, it took me a really long time to finally read Harry Potter too. Kukka, I don't grow wallichii, so I can't advise on that, but don't feel unconfident about buotii until it gives you a good reason (like dropping leaves or something) because it is one of the easiest hoyas I grow! It only looks delicate. Mine seems to grow through anything. I have let it dry out multiple times this year (not on purpose) and it barely showed any signs of caring. It is the second fastest grower I have. GG, I also really love dischorensis. It's hard to see how attractive it is in pictures. I had issues with nummularioides too. It is doing pretty well now, at least. And curtisii is failing to wow me as well. Don't know what it is. Maybe I will move it somewhere else, sometime. So, imperialis seems to be a bit of a troublemaker, eh? I will have to keep that in mind. Chlorantha is definitely on my wish list. Deykeae looks pretty cool in pics. I hope it does take off for you, Denise. Brevialata definitely gave me problems to start. The first cuttings I got rooted pretty well, but it would put out some leaves and vines, and then lose more than it grew. Then nothing. Then the same thing again. It finally seems to have evened out and is growing steadily. I also found a big pot of it at Lowe's. I decided to divide it up, give some away and replace the soil. Half of it just up and died, absolutely hated me. The part that is left is perfectly fine. What a weird plant. I don't know if multiflora will put out more leaves from the bare stem, but I know variegated macrophylla did just that! It grew new leaves from where it had dropped leaves previously. I think it was determined that my plant is javanica, not multiflora, but it does pretty well being wick watered. Mine is pretty sturdy and is filled out rather nicely but it is directly under a light. I believe it is a 30W CFL? It blooms pretty regularly there also.

We have a Roku ... the company I work for has a wireless chip inside so a number of us at the office were given the Roku as a Christmas present a couple years ago. The Roku is very, very easy to use. Setup probably took all of five minutes. When Netflix was not charging to stream videos, it was a very good deal but now they charge $8 for mail order DVDs and $8 for streaming. Old movies aren't all that hard to find in regular programming with the cable service we have but I love watching documentaries, which are harder to come by, so streaming is good for that. Last night I watched Selma (free rental on Amazon Prime and YouTube). We're discussing it in a Zoom class today and I'd left it till the last minute. I was totally unprepared for its impact. Some of it was difficult to watch but I needed to see this. I went through a lot of Kleenex.

I just saw CHARLIE ST. CLOUD. I would reccomend it to anyone. An 18 yr old gave it to me to watch. It is reeeeeeeally good

I thought of a couple more I really like, that I never hear anyone talk about.
Fandango (with Kevin Costner) and Safe Passages (with Susan Serandon)(sp?). Definitely two of my faves.

There's so many I won't remember them all. I enjoy Witness for the Prosecution, Fargo, Blazing Saddles (well, virtually any Mel Brooks movie!) Charlie Chan movies, Mr. Moto, Breakfast Club, Murder By Death, Murder By Invitation, and even several of the Harry Potter movies, though not all of them were that great. Oh, and It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is great too.

Jodi, the director of "Triplets" has a new movie out, "The Illusionist." It's in the running for an Oscar for best animated film. I haven't seen it yet.

We watch Strictly Ballroom several times a year.

I have several Aussie movies that we love, including Danny Deckchair, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Love Serenade. I recommend them all.

I just watched Charlie St. Cloud too. I really liked it and it's good for all ages.

I have several I love to watch over and over. The two that come to mind are Son In Law with Pauly Shore and The Notebook. Son In Law just makes me laugh. He is so funny in that movie.

Oh, I was a horse-loving 8-year-old, too, and I love "The Black Stallion" (and all of the books).

I like tons of movies, but two I'll always watch when I see them on television are "French Kiss" with Kevin Kline and Meg Ryan and "Ever After" with Drew Barrymore and Dougray Scott.

My "triple play" of chick-flicks: Return to Me (David Duchovny and Minnie Driver and a very sweet Carroll O'Connor), While You Were Sleeping (Sandra Bullock) and Moonstruck (Cher).

(OOPS! A fourth! "Truly, Madly, Deeply"--prob my all-time-favorite movie.)

I have them on tape or DVD, and have watched them repeatedly, but if I'm surfing TV stations with the remote and I spot them, I will watch them all the way through.

Strong runner-up: Any of the "Thin Man" movies. Just love the set decor and fashions. And the dog!

Talk about tear-jerkers...how about Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour? I also love Undercover Blues, Romancing the Stone and The Big Easy. Kathleen Turner and Ellen Barkin could sure make the screen sizzle!
