If I do it at all (which has to do with temps this weekend and how much time it takes to wrap X-mas presents) I'll just do a few in one bed and leave the others in that same bed un-done. I don't think this is the best zone to test this prediction in though, since I only lose substantial amounts of canes every 3rd year or so. That mostly has to do with weather in Jan-March being very windy, dry and cold. Today it got to 60 again and we had thuderstorms--I still have rosebuds outside that I hope to bring indoors to open. So it is hard to think about real winter weather. However, I know from a lot of past experience that my broadleaf evergreens do benefit from Wilt-pruf spraying. If I had to guess, I'd expect the rose advantage to be slight to none, but might give it a try anyway.

Athelete Foot is a fungus and some folks are more suseptable to fungal infection than others. Humans do not aquire an immunity to the fungus, therefore, after quelling a bout of the fungus, you can become infected again. The only deterrent I personally have is to avoid setting my bare feet on places were the fungus may lurk. Places that are notorious are public showers and swimming pools, flooring around hot tubs, and bathrooms used by another infected person. Another source is your own shoes especially those worn while you were infected. You can be infected for some time before you may notice it. There are 2 foot powders that I have found that have been effective in treating shoes as a preventive measure. These are Desenex and Tinactin. Both have anitfungal ingreedients. Most other foot powders are just foot powders and do not contain anitfungal agents. Most often, you will find these anti-fungal products packaged as a spray; I prefer the dry powder container because the spray-can does not contain as much product. Five years ago, after avoiding infection for many years, I got the infection under my great toe nail. My podiatrist gave me two options: Treat it with Lamisil or permanent removal of my toe nails. The Lamisil treatment (via pills) is lengthy. I forgot how long, maybe 6 weeks or more. The treatment must be continued without interruption until eradication is assured, else it can come roaring back worse than ever and with the danger of having greater resistance to the medication. A test of your liver function should be made during the early phase of the medication period.

I just asked my dermatologist at an annual check up if laser treatment can help with a scar left after having a basal skin cell cancer removed. Another derm did the removal; I had let it go for quite awhile so dr ended up scraping quite a bit deeper and wider than the usual small lesion, resulting in basically a patch of white skin about the size of a penny. It's directly above one eyebrow and while not a yuck/OMG/what happened to YOU type appearance, because the scar is so white it's a distinctly different color compared to the rest of my face and very noticeable. Anyway, has anyone tried laser treatments for something like this? Again, the scar isn't keloidal or raised, it's just the skin color that is 'off'. Dermatologist gave me a list of doctors he'd recommend, but as always the gardenweb community is probably the best source of real life feedback :).

Just wanted to share with you some of the experiences I've had with skin care. This I really long for me since I rarely chime in. I had Fraxel around my eyes 5 yrs ago. At that time there were 3 different Fraxel lasers available. The Board Certified Cosmetic Surgeon I used (and still do for skin treatments) used the strongest which only requires one treatment. Since then I know she's gone back to CO2 because the results are better. I also have friends who had complete whole face CO2 laser. After a few years, their skin still looks great and healthy. All in their 60's. i looked at the site listed and noticed she still had brown spots. This usually can be improved by IPL treatments which is laser type, no down time, and a little uncomfortable during the treatment. Same friends and I have had these treatments. You actually see the brown spots lift off and disappear and it's used to on the small spider veins that sometimes appear at your nostrils It's also good for brown spots on hands. I rarely wear foundation now since having these treatments. My skin has improved tremendously. I'm 64. Just want to share with you some other products which you can get on-line that have worked for me and were also recommended to me by the same board certified cosmetic surgeon. Jan Marini bioglycolic wash used daily at night. I use the one for oily skin which is strongest and my skin can tolerate it. I'm olive toned. This is strong at first because it exfoliates. Jan Marini Bioglycolic Creme used 3x a week at night. I mix a little retina A with it. When I do use foundation, it's by Colorescience. It's made to lay on the surface of your skin, does not penetrate into your pores, and has great coverage without looking caked on. Very natural. I turned a few friends onto it and they love it. Unfortunately they changed their line around and no longer offer the creme foundation. TG I recently found the primer and foundation on eBay and Amazon. Need to call them to see what they are recommended in their updated line. I used to use Chanel luminere for years. Same Dr. Recommended Neutrogena Moisturizer for daily use. I still have some fine lines but that's age appropriate. My skin is shiny healthy.
