Oh dear. Old, old, old lids question

I picked up some old unused canning lids at a yard sale. used some of them for the first time on one canner load. (While it was canning it occurred to me that they were probably not bpa-free and I probably shouldn't be using them, but on the other hand I grew up on them, so one more load probably didn't matter ;)

Anyway, 3 of the 5 didn't seal. Of the 3 unsealed lids, one looked fine, but on the other two, the rubber had separated from the metal lid. When I lifted the lid, the rubber came off in several chunks and fell onto the grapes. It was an enormous amount of work to do those grapes, and I really want them. Can I pick out the rubber and recan them, or am I going to die from rubber glue or something?

Don't worry, I won't be using the rest of the lids :-)
