How do you decorate around a big TV on a console?
Comments (18)Jakefield-I feel the same way: I don't want to waste $$ on a piece I'm not even excited about. I have searched all the local furniture stores, but I need the piece in the next two weeks. I've actually settled on a couple of consoles at one of those stores that has everything in stock so we can pick it up. At $300-400 if I hate it in a few years I won't feel like I have to live with it because I spent a ton of $$ on it, and I'll use it elsewhere. Maybe I'm just sick of the look, but those media wall systems just look so cluttered to me right now. I am bummed that I lost all my closed storage though. I've spent the last two days getting rid of the stuff I had stored in the old unit. We have a wood stove on one side of this spot and a wall on the other. I guess I could push the console over a bit and put a plant on the non-woodstove side. Our old wall unit had doors that closed over the TV, but in our house it NEVER was closed unless I was home alone so I'm giving up on that idea. I'm just hoping someone can post some pics that give me some good ideas for what to put around the TV. Comments (37)I may get another mirror table top but I still need the big mirror for my hair and things. a lil mirror will not do just for my makeup etc. I always said the writting desk was going to be use as vanity and act as a area you can use for your laptop. I agree with the console table. I am thinking about doing like a rectangular gold dish and a orchid plant. I wanted him to place the TV at that height just in case I was going to add some type of tall vase or pillars candles....See MoreHow do I decorate a TV stand?
Comments (28)I moved the DVD player to the bottom shelf which is really too short to hold anything else. Then I moved the baskets to the center. That should be enough to allow you to hide the cords. Of course, I just spent $115 on the chair and I don't know how much on the monstera, but I suppose it's still cheaper than a new media cabinet. I decided against art on the wall....See MorePlease help with TV wall decor
Comments (7)Sometimes people think more is good. Here less is better. Yes to getting the tv wall mounted and console. The one that @jck910 posted is a great example. but I might go light wood since white can look a bit modern for your space. I would remove all the clutter from the fireplace mantel as well. IF you love the plants, dont add more decor it just starts to look too full. maybe hang a few plants from hooks in the celing in front of the FP window. I know this sounds crazy but I think a less busy rug would really help the room. Lastly bring the sofas closer together, loose the arm chair, and maybe a sofa table behind one sofa for some of your plants and things....See MoreSultana Smith
