Above tv stand decorating help
Comments (13)Looks pretty good. Unless the mirror has sentimental meaning to you, it isn't in the style of the rest of your furniture, and art is always a better way to decorate. The two chairs don't seem quite right here; a little too petite for the sofa, and the end table is too low. It should arrive at arm's height. If you have a coffee table that we can't see, you really don't need end tables....See MoreTV stand with built in fireplace is a modern home decor?
Comments (2)I don't know about "modern ", but I have seen a TV stand/fireplace in use and I thought it looked fine. If you don't want the expense and mess of a real fireplace that's the way you should go. If you have a chimney built and a real fireplace installed it's going to be expensive, and not something I would do on a whim. I agree about a TV being at eye level. I'm sure someone will tell you to rip a hole in the wall and install a fireplace, but I wouldn't do it, especially if you don't plan to live in that house for many years....See MoreHow do I finish this living/tv room?
Comments (23)Dear Jen, I would like to make a case for “the sectional” OR in our case a couch with a reversible chaise lounge. I tell you the truth it is by far “THE BEST PIECE OF LIVING ROOM FURNITURE WE HAVE EVER PURCHASED”!!! I can put my legs up or lay down and rest on the chaise section of the couch while my husband kicks his legs up on the large ottoman to watch TV in the evening; when all is quiet for the day. This wonderful couch is comfortable, roomy, durable, resilient, sturdy, washable and can opt as a guest bed if needed. When my son comes to visit with his 4 and 2 year old girls it withstands the jump test, believe me. And, if a spill happens I just remove the cover, throw it in the wash, dry it quickly (and it does dry quickly because of the microfiber fabric) put it back on the cushion involved and viola, just like new again. We are all able to sit together to watch TV, read a book or play a game. It is a great couch. Please reconsider getting a couch like this. It does in fact open the room up by the mere fact that you have fewer small pieces of furniture in that very small space. The fact that the curve/chaise is against the far window means it is making use of an open space for seating whereas the other furniture does not fill that space as well. Also when we have company over we are able to get 5 to 6 people (especially with our little ones) on the couch and two more on the large ottoman and all comfortably. Comments (7)Love your cabinet! I agree that the area looks just fine bare. You have nice molding nearby, and not a huge empty space. If you decide it needs more, I’d do something like this. Simple and balanced (with the art going just above the height of the door). I like how this has a layered look: I do have art around my TV for something interesting to look at when the TV is off (it’s a big wall, would look awful empty)....See MoreKimberly Mutchler
