HELP!! I Need Gel Stain Advice for Dining Room Table & Chairs
Comments (14)Thanks for all your advice. I'm so glad that I didn't just rush in and start this. From the sounds of it, I WOULD HAVE ruined them . . . :^0 . . . OMGosh! I need to run all this by DH. He's been encouraging me to call up and order a set I like that I saw in Phoenix Home & Garden magazine spread. I can't imagine ordering anything that big and expensive sight unseen, though. Hmmmmmm, there may be a weekend trip to Scottsdale in the offing ;^) In the mean time, I need to decide whether I want to paint the set a brown first and them give the Gel Stain a go or just leave it as is until I get a new set. BTW, I haven't looked into having it professionally stripped and redone. I probably should. I can't imagine a red or blue table in our dining room, though. I'll have to think about that one....See MoreWhat kind of dining table/chairs would you compliment this with?
Comments (8)For chairs, a basic wood ladder back chair with flat back slats (personal preference -- horizontal slats) would likely last a lifetime. They're easily carried out to the deck or patio, too. Sit in one before you commit to buying a set of them. Like the look of these: https://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Signature-Design-by-Ashley-Owingsville-Medium-Brown-Black-Wood-Ladderback-Dining-Chairs-Set-of-2/9038988/product.html or, if you prefer a padded seat, even these: https://www.walmart.com/nco/Better-Homes-and-Gardens-Autumn-Lane-5-piece-Dining-Set-Black-and-Oak/41046882?athcpid=41046882&athpgid=athenaItemPage&athcgid=null&athznid=PWVUB&athieid=v0&athstid=CS002&athguid=466001f5-7290937a-29c1538f466d8df7&athena=true http://www.beyondstores.com/flash-furniture-hercules-series-walnut-finished-ladder-back-wooden-restaurant-chair-black-vinyl-seat-xu-dgw0005lad-wal-blkv-gg-ff-xu-dgw0005lad-wal-blkv-gg.html...See Morewhat kind of dining table should I put in front of this large window?!
Comments (5)Just like @Zalco/bring back Sophie!, we love that grey wall too. @najwa_abd57Here's an approximately scaled mockup of your room that we've made from the images provided. Here's a visual representation of a rectangular table that would pair really well with those mustard chairs! We're have created multiple layouts for your room. You can view them all here. You can also view this design and multiple other designs for this room in a 360 photorealistic view here. You can add or replace furniture and move them around to create your own layouts and also render your own photorealistic images from interactive 3D designs from here! Comments (123)Stain wouldn't block UV rays and oxidation that cause walnut/pecan to lighten (the woods are similar, so beware you aren't really getting pecan when you ordered walnut instead), but a robust clear coat and low natural lighting with an indoor location protected by walls and window glass would. Anyone choosing to pay extra for walnut should always beware of the risk of lightening over time, however, as it is a photosensitive wood. Walnut lightens over time in an opposite way as cherry darkens over time--different reactions to sunlight....See MoreJun Shen
