Mitering "fancy" crown molding and matching repeats

I decided to install crown molding in my tiny bathroom. And this is the style I selected. https://www.ekenamillwork.com/3-1-4-h-x-2-7-8-p-x-4-1-4-f-x-94-1-2-l-roberts-crown-moulding

Try as I might, I just could not get the inside corners mitered correctly though I had no problem with the baseboards the day before I tried to install the crown. I looked up several tutorials and tried various cutting methods including coping but nothing matched up correctly. All of the tutorials I've been able to find feature molding without a raised design or repeat. I can match a repeat on wallpaper or fabric, no problem but getting all the components in order for mitering this crown molding and matching everything up has me confounded. After ruining two lengths of crown, I finally ordered replacements and corner blocks and it looks okay, but I would like to learn how to do this and thought I could practice with the leftover scraps. What's the trick for working with this type of molding?
