Looking for soft green/neutral-ish paint color

I want a color that will look good with solid white china, or a table full of Spode blue ware, or a brightly colored Christmas table, or a pastel-colored Easter theme, or deep earth-tones and fall colors.

Am I asking too much? :)

I am considering painting the room a creamy white, but I would love to explore something in the green family, as well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I had BM Nantucket Gray in my former dining room and loved it. It reads green, but quite muted. Went well with all of my holiday decor, reds, blue and white, gold, depending on the holiday and my mood. If I were to go a bit lighter and less grayed, I might go with Guilford Green for a cleaner , fresher color. Both from the historic collection. HTH

I was picturing something more in the yellow family as I read that, but I was recently in a home with walls that were painted a green that were perhaps a shade or two darker than the submit button below and the SALE tag at the top of this page. Something like that could work if you are up for "go bold or go home." I have trouble seeing a soft green that works with all of the seasons --- the shades change so much through the seasons.

All colors are Benjamin Moore: Dining room is York Harbor Yellow (2154-40) above chair rail. Family room is Manchester Tan (HC-81) - another very popular BM color. Love it! Foyer is Revere Pewter (HC-172) Living room, which is not adjacent to kitchen but when in some areas of foyer both kitchen and living room can be seen is Moroccan Red (1309) above chair rail. All trim, and below chair rail in dining room and living room is Vanilla Ice Cream (2145-70 or OC-90). A creamy white that I just love. So far it looks good with every color I've used in my house. Wow, it sounds like a riot of color but it actually does all work together, or at least I think it does :-) I am considering changing the dining room since I painted the foyer gray (about 2 or 3 weeks ago). But DH likes dining room color, so we'll see. Hope that helps.

Yes, I'm very lucky that our nearest BM dealer, an Ace hardware store, has a fantastic paint guy. He and I really worked on getting that color right! I started out with the BM equivalent of Silver Sage (Grey Wisp). It was waaaaayyyy darker on my walls than I liked. So he suggested going with the BM Quiet Moments. First batch, still too dark. His idea-cut it in half. Voila. Then going on suggestions from this forum including Brutuses' pictures of her ceiling I decided to paint my ceilings a variation of the half-mix on the walls. Well, my paint wizard ended up doing a completely hand mixed version to get the right shade for that, and it is perfect. Anyway, babbling here but one take-away might be: find a good paint store and get someone to work with you. One thing I've discovered reading the forum is that color is so much more complicated than what you see on those itsy teeny chips. For me, seeing people's actual walls painted X color is worth so much more than trying to guess what something will look like. Ann

I would try to match the cream in the kitchen. After you have painted the space, don't forget you can add color with artwork, cushions, area rug, plants, etc. Definitely go the the paint store with a piece of the counter if you have it. If not, try to find paint chips that look like they might be the same and take them home to examine with counter in various lights. The lights throughout the space will affect color as will sunlight and overcast days. Adding colors with artwork and furnishings works very well and can be changed if you get tired of them much more easily than painting the room. If you are hiring a painter, I strongly recommend that you either buy the paint yourself or pick it out at the store and have the painter pick it up. I spent a lot of time picking out my color a very pale subtle gray, , painting large swatches on the walls, etc. only to have the painter pick out the wrong one. I gave him the name and the number of my choice and still he made a mistake. I I did not discover this until he had done 3/4 of the job. Am now repainting three main walls because my artwork does not work with the gray he chose.

You might do a little research on what is best for babies. High contrast helps their eyes and their eye coordination develop. I used to work with a girl who did her whole Nursery in black and white, but I think that might have been going to a bit of an extreme LOL. I know that in the past people used to use soft pastels, but it seems like something with more darks and brights or darks and lights might be better.

This is NG. Compare it to the “stuff” you will use in the room at various times. I think it makes a nice backdrop unless you want something brighter.

I like that green above. It's very similar to the color of the walls in my library. It's a very versatile color - has gone with different curtains/rugs in my library, and looks fabulous with blue/wht porcelain.

Sorry, think that’s Tree Moss. here’s Nantucket Gray. A little darker, a littler more yellow. I’ve used Tree Moss in three different houses, really nice.
